Switching Broadband/Calls Provider Distruption

my current Sky broadband and calls is due for renewal at the end of the month and im thinking of switching to BT Infinity and I've been told I could be without broadband for up to 14 days.
I'm going to do the whole process through Topcashback as I'll receive £150 as I'll be a new BT customer.
I'm new to broadband switching and wondering if this is normal or if there's a way in switching immediately without distruption.

When I switched from Sky Fibre to BT Infinity, the switchover for calls was smooth. However due to Openreach sending a contractor who didn't know the local infrastructure, he was unable to switch the broadband connection. So when Sky switched off at their end I lost broadband. I contacted BT and was told they would have to create a new job and this could take 2/3 weeks to be sorted. I escalated it and managed to get a proper Openreach engineer dispatched after a week or so, he was able to sort out the connection and activate it within in less than an hour.0

If it were Sky that told you that it may be 14 days without service, you need to consider if they told you that in the hope that you may be concerned enough not to move provider, in other words can you believe a word they say, given they have a vested interest
There is no reason that you should suffer anything other than a minimal downtime, but that's not guarantee , if you are keeping the same number you currently have with Sky there is more chance of delays,0
