Just to update, I've had no reply from CEL but Currys got back to me and told me that if I had a receipt then I should contact the store and get them to get CEL to rescind the fine. Only problem is that I didn't make a purchase that day so I have no receipt.

It is a problem with no receipt but I assume they don't want future business either.

The general customer service of Curry's is very low grade as you can see here, and this is just one complaints site

You can always do your own review and warn others not to shop in that Curry's due to the animals who police the car parks = PPC's

Thanks for the reply, they for sure aren't getting my business in the future. I wanted to check on line deals first before making a purchase hence why no receipt on the day. Seems though no one at Currys wanted to take the responsibility to help a customer. Shame really. I left a review on that site thanks.

Just received a letter from CEL stating that the charge has been cancelled! Great news. Want to thank everyone on here who has helped and given fast replies. The information on the Newbies thread was awesome and can't thank you enough for it!

Great news, spread the word about MSE and the brainy folk on here

Strange though that CEL have just done this.
Maybe, someone from Curry's woke up.
If Curry's had done the right thing on behalf of customers, they would not have ended up with bad feedback which is a growing trend

    I will do.

It would be nice to think that Currys had some input, though from my email responses from them they just told me I had to sort it out with CEL and they could not help because there was no receipt. Maybe it wasn't worth the hassle by CEL or they managed to con their quota for the month on parking charges and didn't need the extra.
  • Well done. I always like seeing when somebody new beats a parking scum, especially CEL.

As other posters have said, please spread the word to your friends and family - point them to the good folks here.

Social media is also very good for letting various retailers know of your dissatisfaction.

As an aside, does anybody remember the BPA guy (can't remember his name) on a radio show with Iain Lee. "Our members do not issue tickets for short overstays" Amongst a few other howlers he came out with. It would seem BPA that they do.

Sounds like a Patrick Troy bod, he spouted rubbish together with his buddy David Dunford from the DVLA on BBC Watchdog
