Annoyingly, when the examiner told DD she was having a RRC she was thrilled as she was really good at them - then she drove straight into the kerb.

She's going for another drive with her brother this evening, so she's being good about regular practice. I'll give her a mars bar before she goes. The poor girl will be rattling by the time I've dosed her up with tablets and potions and bananas and mars bars - I don't care how bizzarre a suggestion is, I'm going to try them all.

I forgot to mention Bach's rescue remedy is great to calm the nerves.I got the spray one and squirted it on my tongue:p

To ensure she does not feel initimidated - When greeting the examiner suggest your daughter makes eye contact and thinks "we are all the same sitting on the loo". It will enable her to give more than a nervous smile.

This can help when meeting any official.

Hooray - DD passed at last!! 7th or 8th attempt, I think - maybe more.
I managed to get DD a cancellation for this morning (Her test was actually booked for 16 October but I logged onto the DSA site 3 times a day until an earlier date popped up) and she passed!!! She is absolutely ecstatic, and quite shocked as she had got so used to being told 'I'm sorry.....'.
Thanks to everyone who suggested various things - she ended up going to the test with a rattling tum from all the Kalms, Rescue remedy, vitamins, Omega 3 oil and mars bars but it did the job. So anyone out there who is still 'trying' - don't get despondent and don't give up!!
  • Brilliant!!

Congratulations to DD, but do warn her that she'll continue to learn for ever, and tell her to take care.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

2pass is a very good site! They've experienced my "I want to give up" postings - it took me a year to pass.

Don't know whether this has been mentioned but the DSA have pdf files of the test routes, which might be useful :)

Edit - just seen she's PASSED! Congratulations, really fantastic. :D

Congratulations.:j It does not matter how many times you take it. You only have to pass it once.

When she is over the "I never want to see another instructor ever again phase" suggest she looks at doing Pass Plus. My DD did this last week, a huge boost to her confidence (and good for us as we know she now has experience of some trickier bits of motoring) and now for the MSE bit........................Drum roll...................her insurance has reduced by by almost 200 pounds pa.

DD's a bit shell shocked today - said she was feeling really ill, but I expect the stress is bound to get to her in some shape or form (maybe it's withdrawal symtoms from rescue remedy, lol).

Her instructor was so pleased for her that she's offered her a free motorway driving lesson - then she said she intended to retire from instructing for good.

If anyone needs a gallon of rescue remedy and 5 sacks of Kalms.........
