I applied yesterday, website crashed 2/3 way through application. :/

Edit: Just done a new Flexdirect application today a minute ago, accepted, and offered a £3500 limit on a NW Select Visa with 0% balance transfers and purchases for 12 months.

No fees on non sterling purchases too :)

It would just be plain rude of me to not accept such a offer :D
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I applied for this account around 10th March...

As you can understand, I have not deposited any funds into the account yet. Will I have lost on the first of the 12 months 5% interest?

    Essentially, yes.

Your FlexDirect account will stop paying 5% interest on or around 10th Mar 2017.

As others have reported, it does take a long time for the account to be fully functional.

Is it really this slow, or is something wrong (lost mail etc)?

Yes - it is slow - took 21 days for everything to arrive (card reader, pin etc) I'm fairly sure I read something in the T&C's small print about the account needing to have the minimum pay in of £1K within 28 days of the account being opened to qualify for the 5% but I could be wrong. I made a bacs transfer into the flexdirect as soon as I had a sort code and account number and all was fine.

No, to "be plain rude" the application for the select card would have been done through Quidco.

    Thanks - is this true?

I can't see it in the small print?

So this needs doing to essentially 'activate' the 5% rate?

http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/current-accounts/flexdirect/rates-fees-overdrafts#xtab:tab2 is clear that you need to pay in £1K per month in order to qualify for 5% interest, although I agree that it doesn't explicitly state within 28 days of opening. Obviously if you haven't paid anything in then you won't get any interest anyway (although I agree with colsten's earlier point that paying in without means of withdrawing again is risky)!

They must be getting a lot of applications :) I remember it taking about week max to get everything when I signed up a year ago. Opened a new acc recently online that was fairly quick too.

    Give them a ring.

    If only ?

All the numbers i can find on the web site goto to a automated menu system - no speak to a human option

None of the phone menu options allow you to order a new PIN only a reminder

Trouble is I forgot PIN and now locked out of reader and account and online

Their FAQ page on the subject, is no help on the matter, seems to refer to an earlier web page design ? or I need new glasses
    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/support-articles/faqs/pin-faqs

Sent a message via online form on web site - no response days later

Did once see a Chat option on web site, but got no response on that and not been able to get another Chat box to pop up

How can I order a new PIN or contact a human by phone ?
