ArrowXL

Just wanted to come on here to share my experience with ArrowXL who I believe is/ was a sister company of Yodel.

I ordered a king size mattress on Amazon a couple of days ago and received an email from Amazon stating that the courier would be in touch to arrange a delivery. I had not spoken with anyone from the firm to arrange a delivery before their arrival today. Then today at around 8.30am I noticed a large lorry parked outside our house and two guys unloading a mattress. I was still in my pyjamas at this point so had to quickly get changed.

The guys came in asked where I would like the mattress and I asked if they could take it to the bedroom upstairs. I don't think this is an unreasonable request. It is a mattress - a very large one at that - with no handles and I am only 7 and a half stone - hardly something I could have managed on my own! So when I said this I was told they didnt have any covers for their shoes and that they would get marks on the wall because of the mud and dust on the plastic covering on the mattress.

They did leave marks on the wall - as well as muddy foot prints all over the hallway carpet. Firstly - is it unreasonable to expect delivery drivers to wipe their feet on the door mat? It only takes a few seconds to do. Secondly why didnt they have covers for their shoes? Other delivery firms I have used in the past have used these. Finally - ok fair enough they warned me about the marks ending up on the wall - but could they not have removed the plastic covering? Surely it would only taken a few seconds to do?

Just felt like they had no care what so ever for my property. They just wanted to be in and out as quickly as possible. After they made the delivery I found an answer phone message that they had left earlier in the morning stating that they would be delivering today but I'm sorry that is not enough notice I'm afraid.

The problem with this is that many retailers will allow returns of mattresses for a change of mind but only if they are still sealed.
If this is the case with Amazon and the delivery drivers removed the wrapping and you decided to return the mattress, whose fault would it it the return was refused.
There is also the point the mattress may have gotten marked or damaged if they carried it with the wrapping removed.

Were there any delivery restrictions stated on the order or confirmation pages?
Many companies won't deliver further than a front door to prevent the exact problems that you have experienced.

I would expect their delivery spec will be to the door.
As you have found, there can be issues beyond the door for delivery.

    Edit: Worth speaking to Amazon.
According to ArroXLs site. Items should be delivered to the room of your choice under the standard service.
    Unpacking etc is extra
