Do people still do a proper Spring clean every year? I usually do at this time of year but am lacking the motivation jut now and I want to relax over Easter.

I keep meaning to, but don't have the energy.0

Never done one especially for Spring, but occasionalky I get fed up of dust bunnies the size of rhinos scurrying around my house and I give it a thorough clean and dusting, only to get the dust bunnies come back a few days later. It's a no-win situation, so I tend to chill about a bit of dust.
I clean the kitchen and bathroom regularly as I go along so they are never too bad. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
When I was working, I used to take a fortnight's annual leave every April (carefully incorporating my birthday so that I didn't have to be at work that day) for the sole purpose of doing a thorough spring clean, which involved washing all the curtains, pulling all the furniture - bookcases, wardrobes etc - out from the wall and cleaning behind, emptying all the kitchen cupboards, scrubbing them and putting everything back tidy, the whole nine yards. I used to have a check-list and tick off everything as I did it, to ensure I didn't miss anything.
Nowadays, I'm too disabled to do all that, and it really, really irks me.:(If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
As soon as the weather starts to improve I feel the need to clean the whole house and have a good sort out. Unfortunately this year damaged knee so seriously compromised and frustrated looking out at the sun shining!:(SCP # 034

I do two "spring cleans". One around the beginning of May - when it is usually warmer and drier so I can get linen/curtains etc washed and dried outside, and one at the end of November so the house is clean and organised before Christmas. But I just take it at a sensible pace, often doing one room every few days.0

Us sisters clubbed together to buy my mum a "deep clean" of the kitchen. She'd been in hospital, things had slipped & she hadn't the oomph to haul it all back to the starting point. We were incapable of obeying simple instructions (I quote) & when we saw the advert in the post office?
Win-win-win. She got the kitchen (& hall stairs & landing) all up to her standards again, we got her a present she appreciated & the cleaning team got a full days work.
Such a pity they're down in Oxford & I'm definitely not! Still the eBay palaver is clearing space which we then hoover, so gradually....0 -
I work term time only so every school holiday I have a really good spring clean. Each week I do the normal jobs such as cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, dusting, changing beds, hoovering etc but come the holidays I clean all the windows, clean the oven, wash the curtains, clear out any cupboards and drawers which need doing and generally make myself a huge list of things to do.
I also make sure the kids have a sort out in their bedrooms and tidy out any old toys or clothes that don't fit them anymore.
In addition I tend to run the washing machine and dishwasher with a cleaner in it and refill salt and rinse aid.
I always ahave various DIY projects on the go too and this holiday it's restoring a log store for our garden.House renovation savings £25,000/£25,000

No, there's no need for Spring cleaning now that people no longer have chimneys!
It's better (if possible) to not let things build up so that they need a deep clean once a year, but hey ho I should really follow my own advice thereleft the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

We have 2 chimneys and yes they do create dust! I try to clean properly as I go along but working two jobs I do find that there are extra jobs that I dont get time for. DH works over Easter so I have defrosted both freezers and pulled everything out in the utility room to clean underneath. I have also decluttered some paperwork.
I am interested to know exactly what jobs people would class as spring cleaning, just being nosy really but its got me thinking! I have to confess I never move the furniture in the living room, its too heavy and awkward.0 -
No.. I do stuff as and when I have the energy, time, motivation, desire.. or am in a rage!
