Would you remove negative feedback for a refund

I bought a second hand part for my car just to get me out of trouble but it's turned up damaged so as I can still use the item I decided not to contact the seller and just leave negative feedback. I then had a reply from the seller saying please remove your negative feedback and I will give you a full refund or if you decide to leave the negative feedback I will leave the same feedback for you. I then get another reply saying the item was damaged by the courier so can you open a returns request for the item so I can refund your money back, I've sent you a feedback revision request.


So what would you do if you didn't leave negative feedback to try and get your money back.

I would not have just left negative feedback for a damaged item without contacting the seller first- and if the seller is clever they can reply to that in a 'positive' way that will make you look very bad indeed. However they cannot of course leave you a negative, but a well written response to feedback left can be valuable in weeding out poor buyers.

Personally I would apologise and perhaps accept a partial refund and remove the neg.

I'm with soolin on this. I would never leave negative/neutral feedback without first trying to resolve problems with the seller.

Agree with the above. Sellers may look at what feedback you leave and block you from your bidding on their items. As a seller I really can't stand people who leave bad feedback without contacting me first. These people get blocked.

As a buyer I do occasionally leave negatives and neutrals. However this is only when the seller refuses to deal with whatever the problem was.

No sympathy for the seller based on this. Correct OP should make contact but from what OP has said seller appears more concerned about the feedback then the problem.

It should be apologies all round, fix the problem, ensure customer is happy and then politely request feedback be revised.

]It's people like you that put me off buying on ebay when they think it's ok not to describe an item correctly. If I had opened the parcel and found the item was damaged and the broken part was in the box I would have contacted the seller but as the seller have removed an item from the part there is know excuse why they didn't see the damage so I don't know how they can blame the damage on the courier.

Which is an entirely different version of the story than the OP.

Did you cross post and mean this for another issue or has your issue morphed into something else to suit the replies?
