LW, I find when DH is working from home that I find it very difficult to get on with routine tasks.

JackieO have you thought about using pear instead of apple in the parsnip and apple soup recipe?

    BFN x[/QUOTE]

That's a good idea ,if I still have any left on Tuesday I may get some parsnips.I love apple and parsnip soup its got a delicious 'nutty' flavour.I made some leek and tattie soup this morning and chucked a handful of lentils in as well from my lentil 'mountain' also some paprika and it came out really nice.

I am trying to use up stuff already in store in my cupboards and seem to have several jars of paprika in the cupboard,so anything needing a bit of a 'lift' gets a good dollop of it thrown in :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • JACKIE I made Pear and Parsnip soup and wasn't impressed by it. Now I know everybody's taste buds are different and you may enjoy it, but I found it had a really odd sweet taste that I didn't like much at all. I like Apple & Parsnip so much better! x

Evening everyone - we had a lovely day until about 20 mins ago when the heavy heavy rain and high winds started.

It's been light drizzle all day which was manageable. I drove up to Oban, down to Taynuilt and across to Cruachan Hollow Mountain. My friends did the little guided tour of inside the mountain and I waited and drank coffee in the cafe as I've done it three times already. Then we took the shorter but longer in time route back down the east side of Loch Awe. Got home just in time for the horrible weather to start. We're going to have Chinese takeaway tonight though I won't have rice or noodles.

It's really great to read about all your adventures, sorry I don't reply to everyone. Just a big thank you to all for sharing your lives.

Not taking my boots off yet!

Thanks TA I wondered about whether it would be too sweet, as with apples, there is a certain 'tartness ' as parsnips give sufficient sweetnesss. i am definately not a great lover of anything too sweet. I have got a couple of pears lined up for supper tonight with some roquefort cheese though and crackers. My Easter treat :) as I am off chocolate. Weather is really nippy tonight and very damp and windy.Just facetimed my DD in her caravan in Deal and she said its quite windy and cold there as well. She has her Ma & Pa -in-laws staying with them for the weekend.

I am sitting with the central heating on with a blanket round my knees as its so chilly;) Oh the joys of an early British Bank holiday

Think its time for a hot cuppa
    cheers everyone

  • POLLY don't worry about a reply petal, it means such a great deal that you wanted and tried to reply, bless you. We've just spent the afternoon on the ancestry sites and finding villages and farms on maps and satellite mapping is amazing. We've found places that ancestors came from back to the 1300s and are planning to walk the walk, hopefully if we can find much removed relatives we'll talk the talk too but only if they have enough English as we definitely don't have enough Swedish!!! So excited to be doing this, have just found out that my great Grandma who was born in 1865 didn't die until 1955 so we actually overlapped as I'm 1948, I'm torn between sadness that she was alive and I didn't meet her and such joy that a relative was still living when I arrived, didn't know any of my grandparents and parents had no contact with siblings as Mum was very unpopular even with her own! I might just find out who I am, wish me luck, xxx.

What an awful day. Weatherwise and everything else.

In my head i knew what we needed to get done. I knew what i wanted to get done and nothing has worked out.

Shopping hasnt been done and i cant see me going to see Mom later. I could do but i'm mentally confuddled. I really wanted to get some more fluids into Mom.

We went out for breakfast and then went to see the Outlaws, one of the pair has recently been diagnosed with dementia (though it was evident it had been coming on a good while).

We spent a good hour there and by the time we left the only thing we were fit for was going home to sleep.... which we both did quite easily.

Looks like shopping isnt going to happen as we are going away on Tuesday. Still, there was only a few bits and pieces we needed anyway. Nothing i cant get from our local corner shop.

Hubby has set himself up for the night in front of the telly and ive got the night in front of my pc planned out.

    Have a good evening all.
