O/S Daily Saturday 26 March 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dull and dreich, dry underfoot, yesterday turned out to be glorious, beautiful sunny and warm - the rest of the weekend and the week ahead are forecast to go downhill. Got 2 lines of washing line dried.

Meals will fluid today as they were yesterday - due to decorating - menfolk got stuck in yesterday and DS2's room needs 2 coats of emulsion today - once all that's done I can get going with the glossing - hate it though. Today is a bit disjointed - we need to take the car to the garage but it's booked in for 10.15am - crap time messes up the morning, DH had a real strop about it yesterday, soon told him he wanted the car looked at, he wanted it looked asap, this was the first appointment the garage had free and we're out next Saturday so it would have had to be the Saturday after that, so his other choice would be to re-book it for 2 weeks time, meaning as he's already waited 2 weeks he'd be waiting a month - if he didn't like the arrangements I'd made at "his" request he'd be doing it himself next time, his choice! I then went off and got on with jobs downstairs I could get on with, he soon snapped out of it. The rest of the day went smoothly although they had hoped to get a coat of paint on the walls, ceiling is done though.

Food yesterday was pizza and chips at lunchtime, then egg and bacon sandwiches for dinner. Today lunch will be chicken and salad wraps, curly fries, tortilla chips and dips, dinner should be egg and veg fried rice, noodles, prawns in black bean sauce and sides of dumplings, prawn toasts and pancake rolls. I need to remember to defrost the prawns and get the lamb out to defrost - I'll need to do that at lunchtime today - it's a big piece.

This morning we need to visit the building society, buy DS2 a lampshade, and take the car to the garage. Then home and crack on.

I spent most of yesterday sorting out our filing cabinet, the shredder was working full speed, I can't believe I've kept so much paperwork - car insurance papers from 3 years ago for a car we no longer own, general letters from banks, building societies, just loads of useless papers, I've now managed to condense it down to stuff we need to keep. I have what I call "an emergency file" - after getting the boys out of the house in the event of something awful happening this is the file to grab, contains, id for all of us, including passports, birth certs, home insurance docs, hmrc docs including national insurance nos, bank and building society info too. Still haven't got that finished - will continue today with that and put all the docs that we do need to keep back.

Have a good Saturday everyone x

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Gosh, the rain poured down for most of the night, so horrible after the fine weather we've had lately.

My lovely friends arrived after a very long drive. It's so great to have them here, we sat and chatted for most of the evening. Being with them will take my mind off the Melbourne anxiety.

Plans for today are fluid and dependent on the weather. We'll meet up st 10.00am to decide on where to go.

I hope others have better weather and a happy Saturday.

    Morning all,

Better nights sleep for me but I did have to escape the straight jacket and fog horn a couple of times.:D

Shopping today. Not much else planned but that's enough.

Eldest daughter sent me some pictures of their new home. They are moving out of the Baby House as they are in need of more privacy. The Baby House will remain where it is and employed staff are now running it.

Youngest daughter back from holiday. Eldest son having issues with the ex.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone,

Bright and breezy here at the moment but we are meant to have heavy rain so suspect this is the best of the day.

Mum stayed with us last night, we have SIL and youngest niece coming over for a late lunch then my brother will pick Mum up later to stay with them until Tuesday. Yesterday was beautiful weather wise, got out in the garden in the morning and just pottered in the sunshine, perfick :)
We have a couple of space hoppers (don't ask) in the shed and my big dog absolutely loves them so got one of them out for her to play with. She gets so excited and noses it round and round the garden yelping all the way, it's hilarious :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good day, take care all x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's not actually raining here at the moment but it is very overcast. I managed to stay in bed till 6am but then my bladder forced me to get up :D. I desperately need a shower but will wait till the family surfaces. Saying that DD16 has just appeared asking to play on the Guitar Hero game I bought them the other day. As long as she is quiet I don't mind.

I have another Argos delivery sometime between now and 8pm. That really narrows it down :rotfl:. It is a new mattress for DD14 as the springs on her old one are poking through. I have a load of stuff to be taken to the tip so will have to organize that next week.

Don't know what's for tea as Hubby cooks on the weekend. I made a little tea party yesterday for all of us so there are a few leftovers floating around. Hubby has taken out the turkey to defrost for tomorrow but it has got a bit squashed from being in the freezer since Christmas so it looks a bit deformed :D. I'm sure it will taste lovely though.

Hubby has just got up so I can jump in the shower so I will be off now. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
  • :easter_baGood morning all Happy Easter.

Weather very overcast and windy, quite a contrast from yesterday when it was lovely.

I have a hair appointment this morning, and if Himself is feeling up to it he will have his cut as well. He isn't very well at all, antibiotics make him feel poorly but he has to take them. He isn't allergic to them and he must try to avoid leg ulcers at all cost. I just hope when he has his blood test on Wednesday it will show his kidney function has improved, if only a little.

We have our 2 grandchildren coming tomorrow to celebrate DGD1s birthday which was last Monday. I try to get them together as often as possible so that they don't lose touch. I am just doing pizzas, chicken bites and I bought some beautiful cup cakes yesterday instead of a birthday cake. For those of us on BS diet we have salad and cold meats. I have now lost a stone and a half and I am very pleased with my BS level, I can't ever remember it being so good. We have 2 weeks to go to complete the 8 weeks, but I won't go back to eating potatoes and bread because I feel so much better. Thank you Dr. Mosely :):)

Gers I hope you manage to have a good weekend, your friends visiting might be a welcome distraction to the waiting and uncertainty.

    Have a good weekend all

  • Morning all. Well the promised rain hasn't got to us yet but the sky looks very black, so I guess it's not far away. The trouble is, once it starts, it doesn't know when to stop!

Not a lot planned for today but, at some point, I need to go shopping for a new clothes airer. My concertina one collapsed on me the other day and, with rain stopping play for a bit, I'll need somewhere to hang the washing. I suppose Poundstretcher might be a good bet and at least we can park there, unlike town which is a nightmare.

I got weighed this morning and I haven't done as well as hoped on the BS diet but, there again, I have fallen by the wayside a few times, so a big weight loss wasn't expected! Once I have scoffed the big Bailey's Easter Egg & Truffles DD gave me I will try again! (Why didn't she just buy me some flowers, she knows what a glutton I am with chocolate!)

Happy Easter everyone, (((HUGS))) to all wanting/needing them. Especially POLLYANNA who sounds to be having a bad time just now. Take care all xxx

Thanks candlelight - and congratulations on the weight loss and better health. I'm coming up to end of my fourth week and doing well too. Last night I had some wine with my friends and felt awful all night, heart rate increased and restless, just shows the effects of alcohol which I hadn't noticed before. Makes me wonder if it's worth having a glass at all though I'll miss it.

Tonight I'll only have one glass - yesterday I had two and a bit - and will see if it's quantity which causes the problems or just having it.

    Morning :hello:

Scampi's taken himself off to his 'me time' spot. He likes to be with you, whatever you're doing, but every now and then, he has a few hours of wanting to be away from everybody so he curls up on a blanket in the corner of the lounge. I leave him to it, just wish a certain someone else would. 'Oh he looks so cute' then goes to stroke him, he wrinkles his nose (that's ignored) then will snap at the air. I tell them to leave him alone when he's like this then I get accused of being controlling and asked sarcastically why everything has to be my way *sigh* I don't sigh actually – I get cross, tell them to get a grip, pay attention to his behaviour and listen to the advice from other people that YOU asked for!

Not sure how long our walk will last this morning, rain's not forecast til this afternoon but it looks like it's going to tip down at any moment. We still get extremely cross at heavy rain :D

I have two loads of washing to do, it'll have to be hung indoors to dry. I don't like it in the house, it seems to create a lot of dust. The cupboard doors in the kitchen could do with a clean, I need to put the little shelving unit back in the bathroom so I'll give that a scrub too. Not much else planned for today, what I do depends on the weather so I'll see how it goes.

    Morning all,

Dull and overcast here which is a shame after the glorious day yesterday, not that I saw too much of it being stuck in work, it was so busy yesterday the queue was along the counter and out of the door for most of the day. Did not get a break all day !!

Off now for the weekend will drop dd at work this morning then home and crack on with the housework, I need to nip out and get some Easter eggs and some dog food, this afternoon we will take madam out for her long walk and then home to a nap. pizza for dinner with salad and coleslaw.

Bedding is in the wm and another two loads to go in after, will try and hang it out today.

    Have good days all xx
