Faulty shoes

Hi! I bought new very expensive Louboutin shoes for my wedding day. On the day of my wedding, I wore my new shoes at the church and the surrounding area to get pictures. Upon retuning to the hotel I noticed that the heel tip on one show had come off and because of this it has damaged some the heel. On the other shoe, the toe tip has started to come off lifting the whole sole. I had the shoes on for the best part of 3 hours and they've are completely unwearable now!

I thought this was unacceptable to be in this condition after 3 hours so I took them back to the shop to complain. I was told by the manager that this was wear and tear and I shouldn't be wearing louboutins outside! Basically said the shoe has gotten damp and this is why the sole was lifting! I explained we lived in Scotland and it does rain! She said she could send them back to louboutin for repair but I would be charged for repairing them! Unhappy about paying for repairs to a shoes I had only worn for 3 hours, I stated about the sales of good act being about longevity and durability and fit for purpose but she kept going back to how these shoes should not be walked about in on pavements or gravel and then told me how I shouldn't have expected to be able to wear my wedding shoes after a wedding anyway, citing that her own wedding shoes were unusable afterwards and also stories on how many louboutins she had gone through because she decided to walk in them instead of getting a taxi! I had made the sales girl aware that these were for my wedding when she was helping me decide on shoes.

I got the shoes in November but didn't wear them until the beginning of this month.

After a long time complaining the manager agreed to send them away for further inspection but I'm not sure if I've made a mistake in allowing this, or if I should raise case with trading standards?

    I wore my wedding shoes, which were bridesmaids/evening wear type shoes from Debenhams, for about 5 hours inside and out (although it didn't rain!) and I could wear them again now easily - they still look brand new. And they can't have been more than £40. I would be pretty annoyed if I had spent a fortune on designer shoes and they only lasted a few hours.

    Did it say on the packaging not to be worn outdoors? If not, then clearly not fit for purpose.
    Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
    Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    I read about this before, with Jimmy Choo etc. If you are going to wear outside, you need to get them resoled and heeled to make them more durable.

    Their websites says this (although the box itself could give more/different information but I would have thought it would be the same or similar if it says anything at all)

    "16. PRODUCTS' CARE

    The red lacquer of the soles wears out with the use of the shoes. This is not a manufacturing defect of the shoe, but a consequence of wear and tear arising from normal usage.

    Christian Louboutin strongly recommends that You consult a professional in leather care or a shoemaker for specific care advice.

    In order to keep Your Products in good condition, it is recommended to follow a general leather care as follows:
    • keep the leather area clean and dry using a dry soft cloth;
    • always store Your Products away from light and heat;
    • protect Your leather good from rain and moisture;
    • store Your Products in the Christian Louboutin dust bag provided to You when You are not using them;
    • avoid contact with abrasive surfaces.

    i would use this as my basis for a claim as unfit for purpose if it comes to it

    The red lacquer sole has started to mark, I accepted that as wear and tear. But it's the fact that the whole sole is starting to lift off, not just the lacquer!

    Interesting that the website doesn't state not to walk on a normal pavement with them or walk in them in the rain!

    Clearly the answer is Debenhams shoes for £40 and a spray can of red lacquer for the soles. Presumable they couldn't be seen under your dress anyway.

    Having got my prejudice against super expensive designer wear out of the way I agree they were clearly unfit for purpose and you should be refunded.
