EE Upgrade promotions
Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I wonder if anyone else has had this recent experience.
I want to express my disappointment with EE in respect to the new upgrade promotional deals being offered on the EE website for existing customers wanting to upgrade to the new Samsung S7.
My last upgrade was to the S4 and so I recently decided to take advantage of the offer for the S7 and since I was already on the £41.99 monthly plan, the increase to £44.99 didn't seem too unreasonable with £49.99 upfront costs for the S7 handset. I ordered the phone on 6th March and received it on 18th March after collecting it from the DPD depot. Prior to its arrival I contacted EE on 3 separate occasions to remind them to ensure that the promotional offer of increasing the 4GB data allowance to 10GB was attached to the plan as advertised for existing customers. I was assured that the correct codes would be sent through on the plan so this would happen. On receiving the phone I checked the plan to find it has 4GB included and so contacted EE. I was then informed that the boost to 10GB of data for existing customers only applies to those who chose to pay £69.99 up front costs and not £49.99. The problem is, that on the website where the large circular stickers are positioned next to the upgrade adverts, no where does it state the 10GB increase is directly linked to the amount of upfront cost paid. When you click on the promotion and plans, it highlights the most popular plan and given it is the only one listed as having 4GB data it is not unreasonable to assume that this is the plan that will receive the boost: apparently not.
I offered to pay the £20.00 difference in cost over the phone to EE accepting that perhaps I had not read the information correctly, but apparently I cannot do that as this is not 'how the system works' and instead I would need to cancel my contract, send back the phone and then wait for another to arrive. No doubt I would also have to pay out the full upfront costs again as I wait for my original payment to be refunded to me thus being out of pocket for a while at least. I've chosen not to do this for reasons of the obvious inconvenience and furthermore, the more I check out the website the more I believe that EE having been sneaky in the wording and positioning of its promotional information.
Does anyone else have a view or has experienced similar?
Thanks

Sneaky is marketing. Welcome to the real world. It's designed for people who are happy to pay a huge amount for a mobile contract.0
