BT Broadband renewal

My BT Broadband/Phone/Bt Sports contract is coming up for renewal and I am considering my options.
I believe there is some work involved in changing the Infinity back to the ADSL and was just wondering if anyone has done this before, downgraded from Infinity 1 to ADSL. I would like to know what BT's response would be. But I will be discussing it with them regardless, after the Easter break.

I imagine it will be similar to switching from a cable supplier to adsl (we switched from virgin media to plusnet to save ourselves about £20/month) an engineer would have to come out to reconnect some wires in the telephone exchange box thing and then come to your home to make sure the ADSL line is working correctly. when switching back though expect the line speed for the first 3-4 days to be quite slow until the line stabilises
Was paying virgin £35 (I think) for tv, 50Mbs broadband and phone
now paying plusnet £17.99 line rental + £2.50 phone/unlimited broadband (16Mbs) + cost of calls
wherever you switch to, check https://www.topcashback.com for switching offers

I would be asking BT what deal they can offer once contract is close to expiring .
Key question is do you need BT Sports .
That by the way is free with the basic BT TV package at £0 pm if you have fibre .0 -

Thanks for reply.
It does seem like it would be some trouble to go back to ADSL and not worth the hassle.
Your current deal is very good. £20.49 compared to my £37.45 for the same services. Are you on the ADSL tariff? If you are, have you any idea what plusnet would charge for "upgrading" to Infinity 1. If I transfer to another ISP I guess I will have to transfer over as an Infinity user. I just need to get a "like for like" comparison so I can work out the details.0 -

I would rather have BT sports if possible. I will be phoning BT on Tuesday to see what deal they can come up with. I just use the unlimited BB and Landline. I do not use the landline for calls. As stated earlier it looks like too much hassle to "downgrade" to ADSL so I am stuck with Infinity !.
I am basically looking to see what others in my position are paying so I can decide whether to stay or move to another ISP. Makes negotiation much easier.0 -

Used to work for BT sales. Ask to speak to their Customer Options Team or COT. They have the cheaper retention deals.
When I worked their when we upgraded people from copper to fibre, we had to inform them from then on they would only be eligible for fibre deals in the future. Do you recall being told this when you upgraded?
Havent worked there for over two years however, so their policy might have changed since.Sealed Pot Challenge:

Thanks for advice re the COT.
But, as I said in the first post. I have not benefited at all from "upgrading" and there is no way I could justify paying another £6.25 when the discount ends, as I was perfectly happy with what I had before the upgrade.
I will see what COT have to say on Tuesday.0 -
I'm looking around for deals. BT quoted me £27.99 month although it says £25 on their web for infinity 1,weekend calls and a TV box with free BT sports which I thought my son would like for all the footie matches.
However I don't want to find at the end of the year the price is really hiked after paying for a router etc. You can get big cash back from quidco, tcb also if you are new. If they pay out.0
