That looks gorgeous do you think it would be good with cinnamon as I am out of ground almonds ? and it would make a nice change for my cake of the week I like to try a different cake every week for the family

VfM4meplse has the right idea. The volume of ground almonds will need replaced with flour, but cinnamon would be a great flavour with pears for a cake.0 -

You can also replace ground almonds with ground rice + almond essence + a bit extra baking powder!
Keeps it lighter than using flour!

Thank you amazing people you solve lots of problems .Didn't have a chance to make it yesterday and today is full of things so possibly tomorrow.I will try with the ground rice and almond essence as I have that in the cupboard and I'm trying no to shop too much as my cupboards seem to be full still

My great aunt had a pear tree, and used to get gluts of pears every year. Peel, core and halve them. Make a syrup, boil pears in it. Cool the mixture and freeze. Portions of pear halves in Syrup on their own or with cream / ice cream make a good stand by dessert0
