  • Pear tart tatin or in a pastry case with a frangipan mix on top.
Maybe even poached in red wine and spices?

Pear crumble - with some other fruit to sharpen the taste.

Pears and blue cheeses in salad.

    Pickled pears for later use.

Can also be used to bulk out jams so if you happen to have access to any early rhubarb?

  • Halve them, core them, don't peel them but slice each pear into 8, pop them into an ovenproof dish, sprinkle liberally with cinnamon and pour over a few tablespoons of maple syrup and cook them for half an hour in a medium oven. Lovely hot, nice the next day cold with some yoghurt, nice chopped up and baked under a crumble topping, nice chopped up and baked in a cake. 2 pears is a generous serving, I haven't tried freezing the cooked and cooled pears but they should freeze and defrost well again after cooking.

    Add to porridge

    Add to yoghurt

Poach pears then when cool top with a little grated chocolate, serve with icecream

    Pears and custard

    Make a fruit salad

How about making a smoothie? Just add a little apple juice.

Butterfly Brain on another thread reminded me of a favourite of mine, chocolate pear pudding.

Put peeled, sliced pears in a baking dish, pour chocolate cake mix on top, bake in the oven - serve with cream, custard or ice cream, lovely!

Or you could be totally decadent and serve chocolate sauce with it.

Now I could be really naughty and tell you you could heat up a pot of double cream with a chopped Mars Bar mixed in...but I won't.....
