which Apple Macbook to buy????

I am looking at buying my wife an Apple Macbook but have run in to a few difficulties choosing which one.
Just to put it straight I am not interested in buying a Windows Laptop but it has to be an Apple.
She will be mainly using it for editing her photos now she has taken up photography, and also for watching films when away and browsing the internet.
I have had a look on the website and seen the new Macbook, Macbook Air and Macbook pro. I would prefer it to be 13" or below and so that cuts out a couple of them.
any help is much appreciated

What's your budget? It'll help those who are familiar with Apple products to assist you, although as I'm not it won't be me.0

the budget will be around £1,2000

Are you going to be using Adobe Photoshop for editing images or some other software?
Do you prefer portability (light weight) or not fussed?0 -
Photoshop is the program of choice at the minute but if there are any other ones that are Apple specific the I would try them.
Portability isn't much of an issue, being 13" or below would make it easy to transport and use when away from home. So weight isn't important0 -
If it were me I would prefer the MacBook Pro 13"...

Middle option with 256GB, of course if budget will allow the 512GB option would be better in terms of more available hard disk space but then if you stuck with the 256GB you could save files on to a USB3 or thunderbolt external drive (if space becomes an issue). Most average home users will not use that much hard disk space though.
The other laptops have a lesser CPU and the MacBook Pro comes with 8GB of Memory...(the other laptops can be configured/selected to have 8GB at checkout, but then you have a less powerful CPU compared to the MacBook Pro.)0 -
Keep an eye on the refurbished part of the apple store uk, this looks good. Refurbished 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Dual-core Intel i5 with Retina Display £1,019.00
I am doing this on my 2008 Macbook, in use constantly since buying and only cost was a new battery last month.
Photoshop works seamlessly on it, look for older versions at bargain prices. Plus buy the 3 year Applecare from a re-seller.0 -
I've never been disappointed with my 2009 13" MacBook Pro.
I have thought about replacing it with a new one but it's yet to show its age and does everything I throw at it, including photo processing, software development and the usual everyday stuff. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Ive just bought this http://www.johnlewis.com/apple-macbook-pro-with-retina-display-intel-core-i5-8gb-ram-128gb-flash-storage-13-3-/p1911263 purely because they are doing the 3 year warranty for free.
Their full range here http://www.johnlewis.com/browse/electricals/laptops-netbooks/laptops/apple/_/N-a8fZ1z13zz4?Ns=p_price.extravaganzaPriceListId%7C00
