Three's response to email

I received a 30 day warning letter, 3 days ago from three - informing me that they intend to virtually double my tariff (a NON-Tethering AYCE) - They are supposed to give me 60 days notice
I emailed them - asking for them to follow their own 60 day rules !!

The response beggers belief :

"Thanks for your email.
I’m sorry the letters are only giving just over 30 days’ notice this time. However, I cannot stop the change you’ve been notified of and I appreciate you’re unwilling to pay more per month.
If you’d like, I can give you a port authorisation code (PAC), so you can take your mobile number to another network.
Please let me know if you’d like me to send this to you"

My Three contact states "we will let you know at least one month in advance if we decide to: (ii) make any variations to your agreement which are (in our reasonable opinion) likely to be of material detriment to you"

    http://www.three.co.uk/terms-conditions/paym-and-payg

I also got a letter re The One Plan ending which gave one months notice in line with my contract.

Does your contract state 60 days ?

They are offering you a penalty free PAC, that is all that's usually required for detrimental contract changes, even if you were still in minimum term.

I haven't seen any t&c's from Three offering 60 days notice either (even though the immediate penalty free PAC would make it moot), have you got a link to your t&c's?

For what it's worth it is possible to negotiate a better deal but it may take a bit of effort. My letter wanted to double my £15 One Plan to £30 !

In the end I was offered the current version of the One plan i.e. AYCE everything for £20 but don't use a lot of minutes so went with AYCE data (12GB hotspot), 600 mins + 2000 3 to 3 mins for £17 rolling.

If you've found a better deal or just want to leave Three take the PAC and use it or raise a formal complaint with Three and negotiate a better deal via the customer relations team.

I use zero minutes (I have a speech problem) and about 100 txts - I use about 3Gb data - do you think that it is worth my "APPEALING to three's better nature" or jack them in and use iD - Who offer a bargain 4G - 4Gb, 500 txt, 500 minute package for £10 - iD uses threes network

Here's what others were offered recently and if you don't need many minutes you might do better. Read some horror stories about ID customer service but have no first hand experience.

TPO may also be worth a look if you're after a Three MVNO. I know they recently launched a 2GB 4G plan with 600 mins for £6.99. May not be enough data for you though but there are other plans.

"Just been offered 3 deals without much haggling. Just told the first guy I didn't care why they were changing prices and got passed through for a PAC, then got offered these:

    1. 4GB Data AYCE Minutes + Texts £9 12 month Contract
    2. 8GB Data AYCE Minutes + Texts £13 1 month rolling contract
    3. AYCE everything £20 12 month contract"

And? If you were in PAYG it might not make sense, but whether you are on a 30 day, 12 month or 24 month contract the principle is the same.

You or the network are allowed to give 30 day notice to change or terminate after the minimum term, if the company wants to change during minimum term then it has to offer a penalty free early termination.

    Which part is confusing you?

Three don't appear interested in keeping customers - they have offered me NOTHING that anyone else cannot obtain
Even Customer retentions (http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Cancel_Contract_a) is permanently offline !!
    So - it's goodbye 3 !

You're not a profitable customer. Why do you expect anything more than any other customer, just because you've had a strop and emailed the CEO's office?
