I had the email too, and a re-approved email a day later (with no action taken on my part).

Wife got a new passport the other day, as finally got round to changing her name
However, I cant find the biometric chip on the new passport...
Her old passport had the laminate cover and the chip on the back, but new passports are paper type, and no bio chip ?!

There is still a chip. It's not visible in the new ones like it was in the old ones. There should be a biometric symbol on the front

It's there, it's just not obvious. Look for the symbol:

Wow I'd be livid if I'd rushed off and got a replacement passport and then found the revoked ESTA was reinstated.

Seems it doesn't matter which country it is government departments do these crazy things .
