The lucky (!) first recipients will be due for payment on 6/4/2016 which is Wednesday by my calendar.
This means that these lucky people will be receiving the notification that the first payment has been processed round about now, and may already have it.
Anyone on here with a SPa date of 6/4/2016? I assume not otherwise they would probably have told us being a winner or loser under the changes.0 -

How can they be a loser if they get the larger of the old-style or new-style?Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
How can they be a loser if they get the larger of the old-style or new-style?
on the new style:
If they only have 9 years of contributions
If they were relying on their spouse's contributions
If they don't get indexation on their GMP and don't have time to get additional service to make up additional SP.0 -

but the starting amount would be higher on the old calcs, so they'd start on that.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

But as kidmugsy says, in those circumstances the transitional rules mean that they'd still get what they are entitled to under the current/old calculations, so they are not losers - just not gaining.....0 -

They will not be losers but they will claim to have "lost out": the world is well provided with covetous whingers.Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
According to a Five Live news item this morning Which have done a survey about who knows and understands the new pension. Not many do. So expect a lot of news items in the coming days/weeks. BTW the flat rate £155 is what they start the item with, nothing about not everyone getting the flat rate because of this and that 2018 is being mentioned a lot as well.Paddle No 21 :wave:0

I hope the Which? article is better than the press release makes it sound out to be - remains to be seen though.0

People with less than 10 years NI with an SPa date of 6/4/2016 get nothing whereas under the old system they would gave got up to a third of the basic £119 plus any AP so do lose out big time.
They "may" be able to buy extra years to make up at least 10% though?
Of fhe large numbers of people who the press say don't understand the new system (I know there genuinely will be a lot) how many would actually know anything about the old scheme?
The press have not helped at all in this (and I include the sainted MSE in this) so spreading this sort of news without trying to explaining what is really happening is beyond .......0 -

but is this really the case? Surely if they qualify for some SP under the old system this will be given as their starting amount in the new, and the 10-year rule is for those who ONLY contribute post-Apr 16?......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
