.....till the New State Pension kicks in!

Be interesting to see what people ACTUALLY get compared to their forecast.

so which paper/site will be the first with an article about how pensioners who are already drawing a basic state pension are shocked and appalled that it hasn't gone up to £155? :)

Loads and loads of people already know what their new State Pension will be.

Having applied they will have received an entitlement notice which gives them the weekly rate.

Why do you keep starting these pointless threads?

Well, it would be nice if someone posted something to show those who doubt the beta system's estimates that their doubts are groundless.

And I totally agree, a totally pointless thread, just like many others on this forum, but that's what it's all about innit!

Some of the responses make chuckle so it's not all bad.

TBH, I can see the new SP causing a bigger stir than WASPI, because the vast majority of UK public just don't understand how these things work, and in trying to explain stuff in over-simplistic terms the Govt (of whichever persuasion) just make it worse by giving half-explainations that omit the required details....

...just look at the whole COPE thing, for example....

This is true but I wouldnt have said that COPE was them simplifying things.

It is made worse by the fact that the term COPE is not used anywhere in the pension claim process, isnt on the entitlement notice when your claims is successfully processed and never appears elsewhere.

The same is true, however, of the Starting Amount. You never see that in the claim process either or the award. Should they?

I had a suggestion for getting over all this, from another post I made on a different thread..

"Those two additional paras are better, but I think it would be better explained if they did it the other way round, e.g.:-

"your starting amount is £xxx.xx Basic SP, plus £xx.xx Additional SP for years you were Contracted In to SERPS/S2P.

If you were Contracted Out during your working life, in addition to the above amount, you will be paid by your private pension provider an amount in accordance with the benefits earned in that scheme. For an estimate of this, contact your contracted-out provider""
