Bl**dy paint cans made of plastic

Don't redecorate often but doing so now.
In my period of non-activity paint manufacturers have changed from useing a proper metal 'can' container, to one made of plastic
They have a very deep lipped lid which are an absolute pain to open, and even worse, impossible to replace well enough to completely seal the pot.
The result is that when the lid is replaced as well as it can be, the content will still dry out, and any paint left around the lid or pot edge does not adhere to the plastic, so when dry it falls in lumps into the paint.
From here in on, I'll forget the makers blurb and the famous brands and look for the maker who packages paint in a proper can

Plastic cans don't rust. Clean the paint from around the lip before putting the lid back on then turn the can upside down so the wet paint seals the lid.
Years ago I levered the lid off a plastic paint pot in a hurry just to try the colour. The lid popped off and landed paint side down right next to the paper I had put down to protect the carpet.0 -
put some cling film on top of remaining paint0

If you ask nicely in a DIY store that mixes paint, they might give/sell you one of their paint can openers.0

You can easily buy paint can openers like the ones in DIY stores - I got some on ebay for about £1 each. They do make it much easier to open paint pots - certainly better than a screwdriver!0

Arghhhh yes!! I can understand using plastic instead of metal for the tins, doesn't rust etc, but why do they have to make them so bloody hard to open? It's ridiculous. I moved in to a new house last year and have been decorating room by room, and every paint pot I have to chisel open with a screwdriver, spoon, and car key fills me with rage.0
