How can I tell if I left my laptop on this morning?

I left for work this morning and I'm not sure if I left my laptop turned on or not.

It's going to be bugging me all day now (I'm a bit funny like that!). Is there a way I can tell if I left it turned on?

I did have dropbox running. I'm thinking maybe I could upload a file to the shared folder from work and see if this synchronises at home... but how can I tell if it does? Or is there another way of telling somehow?

    yup you can tell

if it was running on battery power , it will probably have turned itself off when you get home , if on mains , it might have gone into sleep mode

I can say with 50% certainty that you left it on. I can say with 99.9% certainty that it won't matter.

It this sort of thing bugs you and may be a recurrent issue install TeamViewer on it and use https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/mobile-apps/ to turn it off from a smartphone.

You can facetime your laptop and if she picks up then you left her turned on.

After the event you could look at (say) the System Event Log, to see if there are any entries during the period you wish to examine.
