UKPC Ticket - Stevenage Leisure Park

Options
Hi All,

Driver received a ticket at Stevenage Leisure Park (Free car park all day), for allegedly leaving the site. Have no receipts to say they shopped. However UKPC have provided no proof that the driver left the site. They've read the NEWBIES thread and are going to wait for the NTK before sending the appeal. They were wondering though whether to add anything to the appeal about requesting evidence to support UKPCs charge? Or even contacting the leisure park managing company?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

It is the car that got the ticket and that car belongs to a keeper.
    Forget the word "driver"

Someone will be along soon. If it is a completely free car park all day, what do the actual signs say, do they make reference to leaving the car park whilst parked. They do need to prove their claim.
Do remember, that UKPC are a fraudulent company already caught out faking claims.

somebody has not read that NEWBIES sticky thread properly then

the correct advice is to appeal the ticket as KEEPER on day 26 and use the blue text template, no changes (so no, do not ask for proof, that happens later, at popla)

the landowner or MA should be contacted and a complaint put in by "an occupant of the car" , not the driver, no admissions as to who was driving

    so a two pronged attack

Leaving site is almost impossible to prove in court, unless the parking weasel is called as a witness for the claimant. Even then he/she will have to prove that they took reasonable steps to mitigate their employer's losses, which does not include hiding behind a parked car

Don't wait for the NTK if this was a windscreen ticket. The NEWBIES thread tells you why, and when to appeal. This is around day 26 online or day 22 by post.

Re-read the NEWBIES thread to understand why this is important.

Don't add anything to the template unless you really know what you are doing. It's written that way for a very good reason by one of the most knowledgeable people on the internet about private parking.

  • Thanks all, I reread the NEWBIES thread and submitted a complaint to the landowner of the car park. I will wait till 3 weeks before submitting the blue text appeal. I won't add anything about evidence, don't want to shot myself in the foot at all.

Would you mind sharing the details of the landowner with me as this is the site that I'm having the same issue with right now (thread below if it's of any help...) At the moment I'm waiting for Day 25 to do the initial appeal, but I guess a further complaint to the landowner wouldn't hurt in the meantime!

Sure it's JLL, they manage the site on behalf of the owners. I can't post the website because I'm a new user apparently. But just google JLL. There is also a website for Stevenage Leisure Park with a contact us form.
  • Heard back from JLL very quickly. She's asked for the PCN number so that she can revoke the fine. She'll contact again once she has spoke to UKPC

    Well done

Make certain you get this in writing (email) to confirm this.

I updated my own thread, but just to confirm that I got the same positive result from writing to JLL.

Anecdotally at least this may suggest that they are very receptive to polite but firm complaints. Information that may be of use to someone else in future!
