It will be full of whatever you put down the sink, run the washer through to clear it

But it's odd that the grey ribbed washer tube going into the top of the main pipe is a bit smaller in diameter causing the foaming?
I can still do washing machine loads right?

If the washing machine outflow pipe is just a loose fit into the main pipe and you are getting foaming up the outside of it due to slow draining then I wouldn't be running the washing machine until it was sorted.

I have found that using a plunger to 'suck' rather than 'blow' can be very effective. Put the plunger over the plughole in the sink and push it down slowly, then jerk upwards quickly.

Clear with a drain snake to physically remove the gunk, it's far better than just sloshing chemicals into it, which won't remove things like hair.

Try cleaning the fat of the pan or plates with a kitchen towel to stop it happening again

I use a high pressure pump that squirts about a litre of water down the plughole and pushes everything ahead of it.

    Sink sorted.
    More concerned aboit the foaming.
It's not a tight fit, but not totally loose. My wash was fine so must have been caused by lots of fairy liquid and large washing up load..
So washing machine OK to use now if how do I sort it?
