Replacement for Orange, without roaming voicemail divert charges
I have been with Orange since they began, and benefited from never being charged for diverts to voicemail when roaming anywhere overseas (unless of course I call to listen to messages).
But now that my free Orange home broadband has finally been disconnected I no longer need to continue paying £10 monthly for the Orange sim-only rolling contract to keep it going.
Calling to get my PAC, I was offered a £4.99 12-month sim-only contract (250 mins / unl.texts / 500MB) - fine, but this is with EE and would involve charges every time a call is diverted to voicemail when I'm roaming outside the EU, which is quite often. New Orange contracts are no longer available.
So I am looking for advice about which networks and their MVNOs definitely don't charge for calls diverted to voicemail when roaming outside EU, their availabilities of low-user tariffs similar to the one above, or other possible solutions.
I have my PAC, could still take up the above EE offer, don't have use of a computer right now to research (only phone), and I know some of you guys have much more insight and knowledge than I do. . . Cheers!

Orange is the only network to not have voicemail divert charges outside the EU (all networks are banned from charging for voicemail diverts inside the EU by law).
Prob best to stick with the Orange sim only.... Unless you would spend less than £10 a month on diverts...I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
It's my main number but rarely switched on when I'm travelling, so if voicemail is also switched off I would never know about the occasional important call. It's not even possible to set an announcement to tell callers to text or email instead, when voicemail is switched off.
As far as i m aware you will than not pay any roaming charges as your phone never rings so your call is diverted from uk instead of foreign network diverting calls after you dont pick it up or when its switched off back to uk voicemail number(charging you for incoming+outgoing call at same time)
Hullomail i think send you email with voicemail as .mp3 file0 -

You can try dialing ##002# then call from your handset.
Otherwise, if you divert all calls to voicemail via your phone's menu system, it won't ring at all.Does anyone know if ID Mobile charge you when they leave you a voicemail while you are roaming? At the moment you cannot turn off voicemail with them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Don't want to dirvert all calls to voicemail as I want to answer it, I just don't want voicemail full stop but it appears not to be an option with iD Mobile.0 -
