WoW tough crowd...
I guess you all find this OK. I stand corrected.
For your reference, here are a list of retailers offering free delivery
- amazon only on orders over £20 and direct from Amazon unless you pay extra for Prime membership
- asos only for standard delivery on orders over£20, an annual membership is needed for free premium delivery and free on lower orders.
- zalando
- ocado
- tesco (assuming you're happy to pay £3 per month, which saves you money if you order more than 1ce a month and offer other free benefits)
And the list goes on, and on, and on...
Just those 5 account for over 40% of all UK...
The list will also go on and on for companies that do charge delivery no matter how much is spent or have a much higher threshold for free.
New look is £75 for free delivery with UK Mail and DPD and £45 for Hermes delivery to be free
River Island £65 for free standard delivery £100 for express
Next cheapest delivery option is £3.99 no free delivery with minimum spend
Where did you get the idea that those five retailers account for 40% of all UK? There are hundreds if not thousands of retailers in the UK, what you posted is less than 1% not over 40%0 -

If you use Sports Direct click & collect service, you still pay £4.99 delivery but you get a £5 voucher to spend in store.
I use this to order things - but only for items that I know will fit.
I've never had to send anything back. The SportsDirect rip-off0 -

However, I was stupefied to be told in store that I could not return the shoes in store and get a refund. Surely, the whole point of being a brick and mortar player, is to make it easy for your customers to return your items... SportsDirect seems to not get that. I was told I needed to return the shoes by post (and pay another £4.99) for them to accept them and process a refund.
Another unhappy customer (one of many), who will never, ever shop with them again.
Good luck Mr Ashley!!
Your stupefied, Im stupefied you assumed you could return an item you bought online to the brick and mortar store.
Did you not get a delivery note with the trainers advising you where or how you go about a refund ?
Look at the website for the section regarding refunds.
Oh and I'm sure Mike wont miss you, he has enough customers to keep his pockets lined. He might need more customers if his club get relegated and take more than a year to get promoted.0 -
When I'm ordering anything online the first thing I do is check delivery information - what carrier they use, how much it costs, what timescale - and then returns information.
I'm stupified that anyone would consider ordering an item without doing the same.0 -

I think most normal people don't check the carrier as that is irrelevant. I expect that many people on here refuse to use certain carrier companies due to their own personal agenda but by and large for a standard delivery service all carriers are very similar0 -

I'll often delay ordering something by a day so that I know it should arrive on the days that I'm in all day.
So which carrier is very relevant to me and I was pointing out what I personally check before ordering.0 -
I check which carrier is being used as I'm often out in the afternoons and don't want to faff about arranging redelivery if I miss it first time round.

It might be relevant to you but you said
"I'm stupified that anyone would consider ordering an item without doing the same"
Therefore you think it is odd that people place an order without checking what the carrier is. I was simply pointing out that I don't think this is true as most people don't care who the carrier is0 -
I do think it's a very strange set-up that sportsdirect have. But then I have trouble getting clothes to fit. Ordering something from them is basically a £10 gamble that it fits. I'm surprised people take this but maybe normal sized people have less issues with clothes not fitting?
I do struggle to see why people are defending them to be honest, yes they are upfront about it if you go looking for their returns policy but it isn't the norm. You can argue that charging for delivery is pretty common. But it's rare, very rare, for a company selling clothes not to offer free returns (and equally rare not to be allowed to return to the store). Tesco, Amazon and ASOS, just to name the ones listed here all offer free returns.0 -
I think the point is... if you don't like how Sports Direct operates... don't shop there.0
