Has anyone thought about the human rights side of things.
CONVENTION FOR PROTECTION OF
HUMAN RIGHTS AND FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS
Article 3
No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
(Torture isn't defined!)
Article 8
1. Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondance.
A change of tic-tacs (!) is needed as the ASA are going to do diddly squat.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0 -
Anyone who actually pays for that thing should be ashamed of themselves!0

I complained to the ASA and got a letter this morning about it. They point out that they cannot do anything about the number of times an advert is shown nor how annoying it is. I however did not complain on that basis, I along with others complained on the basis that
"the ads are unfairly targeted at children (through the use of animated characters and and ringtones that are likely to be of appeal to those under 16years of age ) even though the product (and the nature of its contract service) is unsuitable for them"
also that "the ads are misleading because they do not make it clear that a subscription is being offered and the pricing information is not prominent enough"
These complaints are being investigated by the ASA and they are awaiting responses form the advertiser and form the Broadcast Advertising Clearing Centre..apparently they will contact me again in due course regarding the outcome...I won't get too excited waiting though...I love this site! :j0 -
I didn't realise until recently that once you pay the expensive amount for a silly ring tone, you have to unsubscribe it again, which I have heard often they ignore this and keep charging you. What a rip off, how can companies like Jamster operate like this, its bad enough they charge so much for a ring tone, but then have to contact them again to cancel the agreement. Totally out of order so a valid point you raised seekaywun.
