Hello applepicker, my partner's son did a secret DNA test using a cheek swap from himself and the baby. He chose the cheapest DNA test company which was somewhere in North America or Canada for around £90. It took around 4 weeks to get the results by email but it did prove conclusively he was not the father; they did state a massively high % accuracy which may have been 100%, sorry, did not read the report.

His case was different though as he split up from his gf for a few weeks, then they kissed and made up, and shortly after found out she was pregnant. Apparently she worked out the dates and told him it was his 100%, DNA proved otherwise. They aren't together anymore. Good luck.

    This company - https://dnatestingchoice.com/paternity-testing/provider/that-dna-company/215

just said as long as I had a copy of birth certificate with my name on it I could legally do the test without mother's consent. They said 100% accurate if you aren't and 99% accurate if you are (not 80%).

The only problem is a possible inconclusive result, which can happen without mother's sample. Inconclusive can be if you took sample wrongly- so not a problem just do test again or a close relative- highly unlikely in my case OR (and this is the only risk)- there's a genetic mutation or something which there is a 300 to 1 chance of happening. If this happens- it would be a nightmare, then I wouldn't know for sure and would have to ask girlfriend for sample to confirm the result. So that's the only issue I have with the test. I have about another year to make up my mind as baby will be able to speak too well and will be too risky then.

I have no reason to believe he isn't mine more than any other father. It's just a tiny niggling doubt that all men probably have.

All men probably don't have that, as all men probably don't have the type of relationship you do with your partner (?) and her family.

Honestly I think you need to sort out your relationship and family dynamic before worrying about paternity.

    I don't believe that!

Does the child look at all like you? Babies often have looks in common with their Dad.
  • oh yeah he looks a bit like me. But for £85 why not know for sure? It's just that inconclusive possibility I wrote about which worries me. All men should have the right to get tested. Women know 100% because it comes out of them, why shouldn't men have the same !

Sure, why not do them both together, what's the difference?

What was the name of the company? Be good to know a US testing company in case the ridiculous UK laws stop me going ahead with it in the UK.

The major content I read suggests she is a bully (not the 1st won't be the last)
he wrote "(Would like to note that we are together, but girlfriend doesn't treat me great I suspect because she knows she has baby and that gives her the upper hand in our relationship!) Before he was born she was always scared I would leave her and was much nicer."

From my seat partners should be nice all the time and more so after offspring arrive.

That was my interpretation of why she has changed so much since the baby was born; maybe I am wrong though. But she must know she has me by the balls if she can dictate when I see him etc Anyway, this should be for the other thread on the relationship.

I realise your relationship is not the greatest example of this, but its a little something called trust.

And which gender is more likely to be the untrustworthy one?
Nothing wrong with wanting peace of mind, and if there is nothing to hide then there should be no qulam in participating in the test.
When my CSA case came about, I opted for the paternity test...why? Because it was my right to and a strong reminder that one party alone does not hold all the cards and calls all the shots.
