Do you think she has kidnapped the child and faked a pregnancy?
If you think she hasn't cheated, then you know 100%. You clearly have some doubts.0 -
When I called one DNA company the worker there said the tests can be done with just the father and baby but will only give a result of inconclusive if the real father is your brother or first cousin (someone very close genetically) otherwise the result is very clear - you are the father or you aren't the father. So it's rare to get an inconclusive result.
Spoke to this company=

Found this site-

That's his company which charged £99. Just wondering how accurate that result is though. Someone said the cheap ones are only 80%, is this really true? Which company should I go with?
I am just doing this for piece of mind. I would be very surprised if the baby wasn't mine. But I would just like to be sure.0 -
If the result comes back that you are not the father then yes you can rely on that result 100%. If the result comes back that you are the father then it might not really be you as you say it could be your brother or cousin instead. You won't get a false negative but you may get a false positive.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

There's always going to be doubt if you get one of these cheap tests, I really don't understand the whole situation, but it can't be healthy for the child. You're together, but you don't live as a family and you're paying maintenance but don;t have any set rules around contact. Sounds like she's got what she wants and having it all her own way.
If you go via CSA/CMS you won't even pay for the test if it's positive, then you'll know 100%.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
As you are contributing support, then you may as well get it doen officially, I don't know about self home kits, but it would still involve a sample from the mother too.
Or you could get it done for 'free' on the JK show.
Sorry for late replies, been busy.
According to the guy I spoke to at IBND or whatever he said that you don't need mother's sample unless you aren't the father and the real father is a very close relative like your brother. Just mine and baby's saliva sample is enough. I cant remember the % of accuracy he said. Some people ha on this thread have said 80% only accuracy how do you know that for sure? Did you pick 80% out of your ear?
Don't want to ask girlfriend for sample as she would get very angry and could affect relationship. And anyhow it isn't needed if what this guy said is true.0 -

According to the guy I called at IDNB (the company I posted a link on) you will know if it's your brother because it comes back inconclusive (if close relative without mother's sample). Otherwise it comes back as you are or you aren't. My question is what's the % that you are if comes back positive from these cheaper companies? And what evidence or source to the people on this thread have which back up this?0 -

If what the guy said at the company I phoned is correct what you've just written is wrong- he said you know if you aren't or you are or an inconclusive- meaning (real father's a close relative). inconclusive means a close relative.0 -

How much for a secret test; just me and baby from CSA? If I pay.0 -
clearingout wrote: »the cheaper the kit, the lower the % outcome. So...you could end up with a result that says the child is 80% yours, as opposed to 99.9% when using the court approved services. This is because they analyse far fewer strands of DNA and is called a 'peace of mind' test. If 80% is good enough for you, use one of these off the shelf kits.
If not, the CSA/CMS use Cellmark. If your relationship breaks down and you need to involve the CMS and/or the courts, you will need a test from a source such as Cellmark. They are far more expensive - although cheaper if you use them through the CMS.
How accurate are Cellmark? How much for the test?0 -
Ok just called Cellmark and they said it's 99.9% accurate but you need mother's signature by law. Ridiculous. The previous company I called a while ago said that wasn't needed but it wuld be advisable to have my name on his birth certificate. Will call them up to find out how accurate their tests are.0
