No invitation to renew tenancy

Yes, I'm in Reading. Private rents here range between £900 - £1300 for three bed houses/flats (my dd is coming up to 12 and my ds is 7) so even if I were to work full time in my current sector of work I'd never earn the 30(+) x rent required by most agencies/LL's and would still qualify for HB. At the moment it just feels like a no-win situation. (Apologies for the "poor me" post, it's difficult to feel positive at the moment).
And I do appreciate that at the moment all my anxiety is based on nothing more than not being offered a renewal - which is very odd given the pattern this tenancy has followed in the previous 4 years.Debt:None

Thatcher, the huge emphasis on "Right to buy", selling off so much council & housing association properties, and Thatcher specifically prevent councils from using the money gained to build new council housing.
That and the Housing Act 1988 (also Thatcher..), particularly "Section 21" which permits landlords to evict tenants for no reason at all: Yes, you read that right..0 -

Yes I guess, I am more surprised that despite the years the act is still there in such form.
Obviously private renters must not mind and LL must be thrilled.EU expat working in London0 -

It is very stressful - especially with kids and schools. Private renting in its current form gives little stability [sadly] though you also have ample time. If your AST ends on 15/04 and S21 is issued then it'll be mid-June by the time you need to find a place.EU expat working in London0
