Amazon ads

It will soon be my wife's birthday so I looked on Amazon for some ideas for a present. 10 minutes later she shouts up the stairs, why are you looking at presents on Amazon? She was reading a book on her Kindle and along the bottom of the page are suggestions based on what I was looking at. How can I turn this off?

There's always the possibility that the "battery powered butt plug" that popped up on the Kindle was a gift for the OP rather than his wife

Also to beware of is Amazon showing you adverts on the same computer for things you have been looking at. Can ruin a well planned surprise if a computer is shared
