they are right to blame the legislation.. rewards have fallen as a result.
but regardless of changes in the market, MBNA are not the best card provider to use if you are looking for rewards/cashback, unless there is a specific programme which suits you, such as Emirates or Etihad.
Amex leads the way, with Barclaycard/Nationwide for cashback as options, or building up Clubcard or Nectar points if they suit you.
MBNA are brill for Balance Transfer deals though:)

    Re - Rewards being scrapped
I, too, have been using my MBNA card for balance/money transfers only and have too few Reward points to buy anything.
I messaged them to ask if the small amount could be donated to one of their linked charities, and they said they'd arrange this

So a useful way to dispense with small Rewards before they get cancelled

    Morning all,

Just received a letter today from MBNA Reward Credit Card advising that " " as of 22 April 2016, you will no longer earn Reward Points " and " to redeem any points accrued by 23 May 2016 ". Anyone else got this letter !

Just had the letter too. Well, I guess it was good while it lasted. My wife and I used our cards whenever possible provided that there was no charge for paying by credit card. We paid off at the end of every month and it was a good thing. We received £73 for last year. Not a fortune but it paid a bill! The rewards points scheme was a dead loss as far as I was concerned. The points expired at the end of three years so there was never enough time to save up enough to buy anything worthwhile. Yes, you could pay the difference but as an example, i recently bought a memory stick for 2223 points plus an additional £4.36 (as i didn't have enough points) I have since found that Argos are selling the same stick for £9.99! So lets do the maths...2223 points are, in effect, worth £5.63.
So MBNA will now be losing three customers...myself, my wife and another card we use for joint purchases.
