Ceiling Rose - To install or not to install

We are almost ready to market our victorian terrace and the estate agent has advised we emphasise the properties period features.
They have suggested reinstating ceiling rose in living room as the property already has originals in both bedrooms and decorative panelled ceiling in the kitchen.
We have decided on 2 polystyrene roses, both sold on Amazon -
Search; County Decor Hmpton or County Decor Clarence
We just wanted opinions on which provides best appeal
I know these aren't plaster or resin but want to keep costs as low as possible and as the ceiling are v.high, when painted no one will know the difference - according to amazon reviews any how? But that said we looked at some painted polystyrene ones in B and Q the other day and they looked the real deal, but unfortunately they were too small.
Both roses are also on sale on Ebay for 9.99 with free P+P but amazon search is easier to find, so in terms of cheapness and ease of fitting we are happy with either of these, but just dont know which would go best!
Thoughts
Thanks

I wouldn't use polystyrene - a decent plaster one or don't bother?0

Polystyrene isn't what I'd use as a period feature. Anyone who can't detect the difference, even at a distance, isn't even going to notice the absence anyway. The features on a plaster one are much crisper, less bland. They'll also last fifty or a hundred years, which may not be your problem, but shows attention.
It's not worth bunging a plastic one up. Proper job, or not bother.0 -
Thanks, I appreciate plaster is best but honestly dont think anyone will be able to tell the difference, without getting there ladder out. As I said we had a sand painted polystyrene one and plaster rose side byside in b and q and found it difficult to tell them apart.0

The sale of your house won't hinge on a ceiling rose. Everyone knows you can buy these 'period' items at B&Q.
Has the EA suggested you remove your central heating to be 'period'? Honestly, it's laughable; save your money for your new home.Mornië utulië0 -
I'll go with the consensus of opinion on that - don't bother.
Anyone to whom it's that important definitely will be able to tell the difference. I'm not that concerned re period features - but would be able to tell the difference and already be mentally ripping it out the second I redecorated.
Do the real thing or forget it. Personally - I'd forget it.0 -
Thats just the sort of period feature the new owners will probably enjoy reinstating when they decorate for the first time. I would leave it.

You need to go to a specialist who will either make an identical one or if it was common they will have one on their books but even so they are usually made to order.
A polystyrene rose would make me wonder what other areas the vendors had cut costs in and how much bodged crap was hiding behind the gloss.
I have a reasonably posh period house with many original features (13 fireplaces)- not all our our rooms have ceiling roses, even the reception rooms, and never have had.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

I wouldn't bother but if you do, use a plaster one. It's not that much more expensive, and if someone notices a polystyrene one, they'll be wondering where else you've used cheap materials."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

I would really rather have nothing than a cheap polystyrene rose. If I want period features, they need to be period.
They will not sell your house and if they do, your buyers will be cursing you when they find out it's made of polystyrene.
