Thanks for the links Ally love walking out getting fresh air. We're one of the ones at the moments that tends to favour NT as have 2 smalls but in time we will spread our wings. My Sunday will mainly look like:
Go through £co for something I was going to buy anyway
Move money from present pot for dads birthday I bought yesterday
Go to friends for day, have resisted option to go to zoo as it will be pricey. They're doing lunch, might walk to a local park for 5  smalls to run around.
Washing on overnight on 30, now doing a radiator shuffle whilst on to take edge off
Bedding now on at 30, will hang anything out on line before we go
Online launch tonight, all planning done, just need to double check later and charge my laptop
Check fridge for anything needing eating/moving to freezer
Double check shopping list for tomorrow for ald1 based on meal plan
Think that's all, have a great day everyone.0 -

Hi March Money-Watchers,
We're up early because the sun is shining and today is the first day of Spring! We've made it through the Winter folks, so that's something to celebrate.
Just a wee list to start with:
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Ten:
* Re-listed seven expired items on eBay, ignoring eBays advise to make them cheaper. If I list them at their recommended price there'd be no profit.
*Reject an eBay offer of £50 for something we're selling for £75. No chance pal.
* Do GfK Media Surveys.
* Hike around RSPB reserve. Free entry as we're going by train. This is cheaper than driving and paying entry fees.
* Unubscribe from some emails. I seem to have been getting a lot of Spam in my "non-Spam" account.
* OH got a quote from Flubit.com for something she wants to buy. Amazon wanted £58 and that was the cheapest price around but Flubit found a wee online retailer selling it for £53. (Link) I really recommend this website, even for wee purchases.
How you all doing?
Money-Saving IT Tip 2: Printer Ink
The "Ink Low" warning messages on printers are there to let you know when a cartridge is low before it runs out of ink. In reality, this means that often the warning message appears a long time before the cartridge is actually out of ink. Roughly speaking, there is still 10-30% of ink left in a cartridge when warning messages appear. Instead of throwing away ink cartridges as soon as warnings appear, keep printing until quality is unreadable.
There’s printing software available that checks every page is printed in the most ink friendly way possible, making sure your cartridge is fully used. The software can be used to monitor printing and ink use and can also be used to adjust documents, change page setup, printer settings, fonts and more to make sure you get the most pages as possible from each ink cartridge. Obviously many of these bits of software are specific to one brand of printer so you would need to Google "ink saver Epson Stylus free software" or whatever to find one that'll work with your printer. Remember to virus check your download too!
Sometimes ink can become stuck to the side of the walls inside the cartridge. This stops it flowing down to the print mechanism properly. By giving the cartridge a quick shake, you can dislodge stuck ink and get a few extra pages worth of printing. I recommend you do this carefully...you don't want to spray ink spots all over your house and clothing.
Print in greyscale. Often printers are set up to print in colour, but you can change this. Changing your printer settings so that it prints in greyscale or just uses the black cartridge will save you using up all the colour ink which is more expensive. If you are printing black with the colour cartridge, this is the fastest way to use up ink supplies. Also, when you print in black using a black ink cartridge, only one layer of ink is applied. However, when printing in black with a colour ink cartridge, roughly three layers are applied.
Print in Draft. In the printer's Properties box you'll find the option to choose the print quality. Unless you need your printouts to look particularly smart use the Draft option. This will be perfectly readable and use less ink. (Sometimes this is not a good choice if you are printing something with a barcode on like a coupon.)

Well, what a day yesterday turned out to be. Won't bore everyone here with it, but suffice to day that I am tired and emotional/angry today. No real surprise as that's how I appear to function...

Hello Frugalistas,
Pleasant morning. A few money saving odds & ends:
*Paid another 50p into my sealed pot.
*Free coffees in Waitrose. While drinking it, I flicked through their free weekend foodie paper & found a coupon for £1 off an item we'd planned to buy. Also got cat biscuits for £3 off, a free 'Observer' & a nice free garden magazine (loyalty card).
*Veggie garden progress - Mr f turned out a compost bin & dug it into the bed we intend using to grow sweet corn, courgettes & beans. I sowed troughs with seeds - carrots, mixed salad leaves, radishes & spring onions.
*Being very strict with cat, who is refusing to eat last night's meat, had it served up again for breakfast, & at this rate......guess what his dinner is going to be :-/
*Two baths from one lot of hot water will save a little energy bill, as will setting timer for a cheap overnight load in the washing machine.
*Mr f is doing roast dinner for later & has announced he will do 'use it up' on carrots & parsnips as they are starting to look a bit bendy. Ditto me with apple at lunchtime. Looked manky, but when I cut it up it was perfectly fine to eat.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Chill out with library book & knit a bit more of my order.
Love to all - sorry things are so tricky, CCL. It can't be at all easy. Take care.

Brrr afternoon all
First day of spring did someone say? Don't think it is here, it is bloomin freezing
Loaded up the car this morning and went to do a car boot sale, despite the cold. Not nearly as many people there as usual, probably because of the weather. Still, I made over £80 and got rid of a few bitsTaking me ages to warm up again though
Not much apart from that:
Wood burner alight already as it is so cold
HM meals from stores, got some of the fish cakes I made yesterday left for supper again tonight
Nothing spent :T
Dog walk needed shortly
Must pull everything out of the airing cupboard and put it all away, as I have run out of space in there
Need to put away sales stuff currently all over the spare room
Just about thawed out now!0 -
Hi March Money-Watchers,
We're back. Have had a lovely day of unbroken sunshine.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Ten:
* Hiked around RSPB reserve. Free entry as we went by train. OH was delighted to photograph a Woodpecker, a Robin in flight and a Smew. Apparently there are only about 180 Smew in Britain (how do they know?!) so OH was overjoyed to see one. The best things in life are free.
* While at the loch we came across a family and the wee three-year old boy saw my OH's camera and asked my OH to photograph him. His parents were in agreement and we've just emailed them the shots which are absolutely beautiful. It was refreshing to meet a family who didn't regard an adult with a camera as potentially suspicious!
* I am making a soup from leftover lamb and potatoes that are slightly past their best. The rest of the lamb is in the freezer for another day. The leftover soup can be had tomorrow lunchtime.

It's been a strange old weekend for a lot of us and quite quiet on here. Hugs to all that need them.
Ally, I love hearing your stories of the outdoors. I am quite jealous, but just cannot motivate myself to get out and enjoy the outdoorscrazy_cat_lady wrote: »

Thanks for the tip about the printer ink Ally. Glad you and OH enjoyed your day.
Hugs CCL, sorry things arent great.
Turned out that there was only myself and DS2 for tea so I stuck a chicken pie in the oven that I bought on a supermarket special a couple of weeks ago. It was horrible. Now I know why I always make my own pies. DS2 was so hungry after playing footie that he ate his share. The dog will finish it off.
Bit tired and grumpy. Hospital tomorrow with DS1, not looking forward to it. Still its only a 4 day week!0
