Hello All
Have had a lovely Saturday so far. Whilst son is on his all day at dance session me, OH and the small one have been wandering around Greenwich like touristsso free entertainment, fresh air and exercise.
Have claimed a free coffee in Costalots and bought minimal food in the supermarket for a small picnic lunch. So far all spends from the kitchen change pot raid.
Off to walk the Thames path and admire the view

Hi March Money-Watchers,
The Dowds are just back from a wee hike around a local bay. Took some photos (of course). Now we're waiting for some discounted lamb to roast in the oven.
I'm now freezing so I'm wrapped up like an eskimo.
OH has agreed to sell another bit of never-used camera kit. So that's a victory. :rotfl:
What's your news?

Enjoy. I love walking/hiking/running along paths. I find it to be a very relaxing pasttime.
I agree. Pre kids we used to do a lot of walking. One of my bucket list items is to walk the South West coastal path which is the longest National Trail at 600 miles. It starts at Minehead in Devon and ends at Poole in Dorset. The Thames Path is great too and we've done quite a lot of that in chunks over the 16 years we've been together. And finally before I derail the thread entirely from money saving topics, I did the Speyside Challenge in 2009. It's a 52 mile walk in 24 hours starting from Aviemore ending at Elgin. Absolutely amazing experience. Absolutely knackering :T" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Dh wanted to pop out to the shops this morning before swimming, was going to Mr T's to look for a replacement sd card for ds1's tablet. Walked past next which had a sale on, (don't usually shop in there but was killing time really!) anyway picked up a lovely dressing gown for £7;50 for ds1 to grow into and some ys slippers each and a pair of shoes suitable for school for ds1 for £10 (usually spend £20+ on clarks ones1) Then we headed into mR T's , got the sd card which was on offer with a 1/3rd off
and also bought a new all in one printer/scanner/photocopier thing ys to £29 our old printer won't work so seemed a good idea (I am wanting to print far more things these days to help ds2 with his schooling)
Bob, sounds like you're having a lovely day.
Right better get off as I need to get myself ready for this kids party! (would much prefer to be staying home watching the rugby if I'm honest!)
Wow amazing bargains! Have a great time at the party." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Awesome. I'm walking and running the Forth and Clyde Canal and Union Canal to get from the West Coast of Scotland to the East Coast just now. Hoping to re-do the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Fort William later in the year. Practically free entertainment! The old me used to it wasn't a great weekend unless I'd spent £200 in the yacht club, now I'm delighted by awesome views, wildlife and a flask of coffee!
There are lots of free website that list the routes of free walks in Britain from a mile to 600+ miles in length, among them:

And I know that some Small Things members love a wander around National Trust properties too.

Hello Weekend Savers,
I didn't think today would be particularly money saving, but it hasn't been bad:
*City centre trip followed by grocery shopping so took a couple of filled rolls & crisps to prevent cash leakage at lunchtime.
*Underwear bought from M&S entirely by using vouchers received from CC points (we pay it off in full each month & use it primarily for the vouchers).
*Some good finds in CEX. Mr f found several of the Blu-rays on his wish list for very little ££s. No impact on budget as used his Personal Spends. I mentioned a tv series just in passing & said I'd buy it were I ever to find it in CEX for a sensible price. Then, while we were queuing for Mr f to pay for his haul, I had a sneaky nose thru 2 big piles of DVDs that had just come in but not yet shelved, & there were series 1& 2 of the very TV programme I'd just mentioned.....priced at 50p each!! Defo pays to be nosy!
*Excellent use of O2 Priorities today - 2 free bags of posh popcorn from Boots, 2 lovely chocolate Easter bunnies from Thornton's & a £10 off a £25 spend code at the Body Shop for products we'd budgeted for & were planning to buy anyway.
*My hair colour was £4.99 in Superdrug instead of £6.99. It is virtually never on offer, so I was pleased to save £2.
*Grocery shopping came in on budget. Remembered to use 37p brand match coupon. Received another one for 96p for next time. We were talking about adding items so as to make our trolley up to the £50 minimum spend for triple nectar points but then Mr f quite rightly pointed out that the additional spend required would be waaaayyyy more than the extra nectar points so we abandoned the idea & saved £15 instead.
*Free leisure tonight - watching film, reading & cracking on with my knitting order.
*Sort of free fitness. Don't feel I've done much walking but new pedometer says over 7000 steps so far.....no aerobic ones though so I'm obviously not so purposeful walking around city centres as I am when I deliberately set out on a fitness walk.
OK, that's pretty much my day,
Have a nice night all,

Evening all.
Am in awe of ds2 work ethic. He is doing 20 hour shifts and on week 2. Am planning on letting him nap at some point to prevent getting poorly.
Dh has given up trying and is watching about 20 hrs a day tv and shouting at everyone else.
Not spending any money although I may have bid on a few eBay quilt materials. Oops! But it gives me something to fantasise about amid all the chaos. Last 2 days all healthy live lambs.
Off to go back to shed. Xxx Maria xx0 -
Hi all
Cycled to watch DS1 play footie. Completely underestimated how cold I would feel standing about for 90 minutes after cycling 5 miles. Started to feel so cold I was biting down to stop teeth chattering. Left footie, treated myself to a coffee and cycled home. I have now thawed out, just.
Ally thanks for those links, going to have a look. Before DS1 became ill we did a lot of walking and I miss it.
We have provisionally booked a weekend away in April, just need to confirm with my dogsitter (Mum). £20 a night for all of us and we have been before so we know its good. I just need to research some cheap/free things to do with DS2 while DH and DS1 are fishing.0 -
Thanks for the links Ally £200 for a weekend sounds very spendy. Glad life is so much better now appreciating the simple things." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
