Funnily enough, tomatoes are pretty well known for helping to get rid of skunk stink after you've been sprayed. I imagine the folklore in the UK is pretty much the same - bad stinks need tomatoes of some kind to get rid of it!0 -
Tomato sauce sandwiches are very nice, as is salad cream sandwiches! And if you want to go mad, try condensed milk sandwiches-rock and roll, that's me!0

In the Marie Rose sauce for a prawn cocktail
Also use in BBQ sauce, in my chilli, in beef casseroles, and like the poster above in the onions to go with curry0 -
As a ketchup connoisseur, I can chip in here
- Use it as face moisturiser
- Play pranks on your friends by [STRIKE]purposely[/STRIKE]accidentally dropping some into their drink
- Using it as aftershave (for that fresh tomato smell)
- Use it to paint your walls a nice red colour for less than the price of paint
Happy Tuesday everyone! :j:j:j:j:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::money: Keep calm and carry on couponing! :money:0 -
can be used as a tomato base for quick pizza.
on the same note - a layer of ketchup definitely adds something to plain old 'cheese on toast'.
and as Bailey says - its an essential ingredient to Marie Rose Sauce. my aunt was a professional cook and she taught me this recipe for marie rose sauce
equal quantities of
Tomato Ketchup
Mayo
Salad Cream
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper (black or white its your preference)
dash of worster sauce
mix well! simples!
my grandkids call it 'Pink Sauce' and love it - they all learned to make it by 3 yrs of age!0 -
Personally, the only thing I use ketchup for is adding to my baked beans - since everyone started reducing all the sugar and salt in things, beans seem to taste rubbish unless they have a dollop of extra sauce in to give them some flavour.0

Another vote for Marie rose sauce! Ketchup, mayo, tiny squeeze of lemon juice and tiny bit of horseradish is how I like it but prob not the official recipe!0

Use the following recipe for Cottage Pie - scrumptious!
500g minced beef
chopped onion
good dollop tomato ketchup
good dollop brown sauce
sage & onion stuffing to soak excess liquid
Brown mince and onions in frying pan (adding salt and pepper) Add tomato ketchup and brown sauce and leave to cook for a while then add sage and onion stuffing mix to soak excess liquid.
Place in container for cooking in oven with mashed potato on top and approx 1/2 hour later absolutely lovely tasting Cottage Pie.
Absolutely love this.0 -
