I spoke to Next, they confirmed that I did hold PPP (as they call it), and I complained via email. However I received a rather patronising letter back to say that the way that it was sold (ticking a box or calling to request) meant that it was the account holders responsibility to ensure that the cover was required. I'm honestly not aware and don't believe that I would have done either.
I was referred to the underwriter should I want to pursue my complaint. I would be interested as to others response to Next letters in the past. They made me feel dreadful for even investigating!!0 -
Hi,
I have had a Next account for as long as I can remember. I have emailed them to confirm that I had PPI until they cancelled it in 2011/2012. Assuming that they confirm that I did, then do I write to Phoenix as suggested by Robin Hood and if so, is there a specific wording that I would include in any letter? Or do I need to send a SAR to Next to get more formal confirmation?

Have just joined this forum as I too have been wondering if I could reclaim back my PPI from Next Directory. I have had my policy since 1996, which I did not request and was automatically applied to my account. Although I have not used the account for a few years I do remember that the PPI payments were shown on the monthly statements. If you have any old statements this is proof if payment. That said I was wondering if anyone has made a successful Claim against Next Directory for PPI.0

Just for anyone that ends up on this thread re a search for Next PPI as I did. It took a 2 minute call to Next customer services to determine whether my 2004 account had ever had PPI (unfortunately not) - the customer services rep said their system had all the info right back to when I opened the account and their system automatically tallies the amount of PPI paid in total. Sounds like they have their act together info wise. Obviously no claim for me, but I thought this might be useful for someone who didn't have historical info and wasn't sure how easy it would be to get.0

Success. 8 weeks following complaint to underwriter and today had a letter it has been upheld. Had account for over 20 years. Receiving £10,225. So definitely worth claiming as this was added to account automatically.0

I told you this back in May (post #31)
Are you hoping that you'll somehow receive money you are not entitled to? You cannot personally benefit from this pre-bankruptcy asset, I'm afraid

Discharge from bankruptcy does not alter this position. Discharge does not operate to transfer unrealised assets, including PPI mis-selling claims, back to the individual."
