I think you'd be better of sourcing each item from the cheapest supplier or going to a small time local trader and seeing if they'll barter.Happy chappy0

I second John Lewis for the telly. The free warranty is worth more than the telly.....well it used to be before the all new all flat skinny tellies. :T0

my dh used to work in currys and he says that if you are going to get a deal it will definatly be on a saturday as they need to hit targets. Also he reccomends to go in later on in the day (maybe after 3pm) Speak to a manager and at their discretion they can give discounts. The store dh worked in also used to give away a lot of extra insurances on saturday afternoons just to meet targets.Busy mummy of 4.:j0

I would suggest against Currys
Your local Euronics (independent) will usually be cheaper (and give better service)
I bought my washing machine from a local company.
had problem (covered by guarantee)
Called at 4.55 to local person (local number, no foreign callcentre)
Spoke to a lady who had worked with same company for 15 years (she knew what questions to ask- even if machine had any error codes - which it had)
8.45 am (next morning) engineer arrived with new motor bit.
Looked and said 'i'll need to take it away - something else caught his eye
3.15 pm (same day) brought it back, fitted and demonstrated all OK.
Local companies have given FREE delivery and FREE installation for years.
The big chains don't (or have only came on board)
ps Get it on a credit (even if you pay in full 40 days later intrest free)
This gives you more rightsbaldly going on...0 -
If you want a decent bargain along those lines, use a local independent retailer as they will deal, none of the chains will. AS has been said, they aren't interested in cash.
As for price comparison sites, IMO, they are a con which I wrote about in this article as they only tell you about the deals that they make money on.

If you go to Empire Direct you can haggle on every Item, I got £40 off a washer/dryer, because it was dusty !0
-
Empire direct has shed loads of codes too, look into the codes section ( online & offline vouchers) or use paid to shop:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
don't buy from DSG group unless you find an excellent bargain coupled with discount codes & egg card

TV from johnlewis [price matched] & rest of the stuff from Empiredirect with 3 year warranty.0 -
If you're buying expensive items, don't pay cash - use a credit card, as it'll give you free insurance over £100. That way if it breaks and Currys refuse to fix it (which they will do!!), you can claim against the credit card. All you need to do is use the cash to pay the bill in full when it arrives and you've not incurred any interest, but you've got an awful lot of protection for free. Even if you fall over on the way out of the shop and drop your new Nintendo, you can ring up the credit card company and get them to pay for a replacement!0

Absolutely agree with everyone's comments. With a local or online place you have much more chance of money off, or incentives. I can't recommend Currys, although I have purchased from them them in the past it was mostly pre-internet & TBH before I knew the great deals to be had out there.
I would not buy it cash (I assume you mean debit card rather than huge wodges of notes?
) but use a credit card. Even if you don't have one & it takes a month to get hold of it's worth getting one for cashback, or points, or whatever suits you best.
Some companies mention a discount for several items, others will respond to e-mails. It's more work, but could save you a fortune.0
