F1 on TV?

So F1 is one of the most popular sporting events, more people go to a F1 race than cricket and most other sports.
But we have loads of cricket and other sports on TV without subscription but now hardly any F1.
Even the opening race this weekend is not available.
Just wanted to get that off my chest!

Qualifying 12:30 tomorrow lunchtime and the race 1:30pm on Sunday, both on Channel 4.
And where are you seeing all this cricket on terrestrial TV? You might get an hours highlights of an Engand test series of an evening in the summer, but very little if any live cricket coverage.0 -
Er ... do you mean not available live?
It is being screened from 1.30 but Channel 4 is off air early in the morning. I understand that the races will be screened live when possible.

The same could be said about Football, how many premier league matches can you see live without a subscription ?
and many other sports, most of the time all you get is the highlights, not live.
Channel 4 are showing all the races, but only half of them will be live. Which is the same as the BBC did last year.0 -
Sky bought the exclusive rights to show every race live.
F1 is pretty exclusive in that theres only 21 races. Crickets has hundreds of matches a year making it much cheaper to buy the rights to show it.
2.3 million people (tickets to matches) went to watch cricket last year in the uk, whats silverstone... 150k?
Also worth noting cricket and other sports tend to be for the people, F1 is very much for the elite, its to be expected they will capitalise on fans.
A suggestion, start watching other forms of motorsport. BTCC, rallycross, Formula E (and motorbike series but dont really do them myself) most can be found on UK tv live.0 -
OK so the highlights are on C4. Have been following for a long time and now it is getting back to exciting racing I would like to watch the whole race!
Yes I watched Formula E but didn't find it all that exciting.0 -
you can watch it online for free if you know where to look
or if your that much of a massive fan then get SKY TV"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0 -
With the highlights you do generally get to see the whole race. They mostly cut out all the stuff before and after the race. A few laps sometimes get cut out, but you should see about 90% of the laps.
Another option is to use nowtv, you can pay for a day's sport pass for races that are not shown live on C4. If you look around you can often get deals for a number of free sports passes0 -

Certainly not in the last decade and I see no reason for that to change this season. It's nothing , not nothink.0 -

Seriously, you find talking about rule changes more exciting than racing? I fall asleep in about 25% of the races and ive been watching f1 since i was born. Formula E is the future F1 is archaic and has little to do with racing or the fans anymore. Even the majority of drivers find it tedious now (got a feeling the pay cheque keeps them there though.). If we're lucky we'll see some progress when bernie pops it.
Apparently theyre 'comprehensive highlights' (seems a bit contradictory) on C4.
Not to mention that this has been the case for how many years now?0
