SNAD not waterproof

I bought a jacket which arrived today, described as waterproof and also used a description from the website that makes this unique design stating that it is waterproof.
However I already have a jacket from the same manufacturer and this is one I've just bought is completely different. It's a much softer fabric, and more like a kagoul rather than a 100% waterproof jacket that it is described as.
I suspect this is maybe a Mark I or Mark II version and it is completely useless for my needs. It doesn't have a lining and the design is completely different to the jacket the company make now.
Was it described as a lined, Mk 111 version, identical to the jacket the company make now and entirely suitable for your needs or was it described accurately and you expected something different?.Quite simply I only want the money I paid back. And I shouldn't have to fork out for postage for it to be returned either, when quite simply it is not as described0 -
You could try opening a case but, even if you win, you wont get your P&P back - know this from bitter experience.
Also, you will need to be absolutely clear in your dealings with ebay and your description of what you claim to be wrong with the item.
Even then - no guarantee that you will get a refund - and you will probably have to pay the P&P to return it by tracked means in order to get a refund when it is signed for as received by the seller - not a penny of which will you get back.0 -
Update - reply received last night, four days after my initial email, only after I'd sent another message.
They reply that it was a used item and then in capitals NO RETURNS. That's all, nothing else, seems a bit aggressive.
Do I open a SNAD through paypal? It cost £65, I don't want the item, and want a full refund plus postage and having done a quick search I've read examples of buyers losing out. How is best to proceed?
Open a SNAD case via ebay and seller will have to pay to supply a returns label for you.0 -
Why would you go down the Item Not Received route when the Item was Received?
Why not they ordered a waterproof coat and they didn't get a waterproof coat. Therefore there ordered item has not been received.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0 -
That's bull carp. Item not received means "no item was received" - everyone familiar to this part of the forum knows that. Why not they ordered a waterproof coat and they didn't get a waterproof coat. Therefore there ordered item has not been received.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. An INR dispute is for when no item arrives, not for when a different item arrives.

So if the OP was to open an INR dispute and the seller provides valid proof of delivery and the dispute is closed, what then? When a buyer doesn’t receive an item
If a buyer doesn’t receive an item, the buyer needs to report that they didn’t receive the item by contacting the seller from My eBay. The seller should address the buyer’s concern and provide updates on the delivery of the item, tracking information, or a refund.0 -
Why are people jumping all over the poster on this? The way i read it is that the seller advertised a coat by using a description (perhaps also images) copied from the manufacturers website of a particular waterproof jacket. The item received was not the item described in the advert. The poster is simply 'assuming' what they received may be an older version.
Is this correct?
If so then its an SNAD case pure and simple.0 -
I've got a very light Rohan jacket-that's waterproof , though, if you were to put it in a washing machine without reproofing solution I believe it wouldn't be waterproof anymore-so I've been told.0

Given that you havent worn it , how do you know it isnt waterproof ?
I was just reading through all the posts before asking exactly same thing! OP, Have you worn the jacket in question in the rain to know that it's not 100% waterproof?
And like other poster commented, those jackets need reproofing, a friend has a North face waterproof jacket, and she mentioned that it wasn't waterproof after a third wash, she paid best part of £200 fo that jacket.
Another question, what do pictures of the listing show, item recieved or the 'new version' of the item and was there lining shown in the pictures or not?0
