SNAD not waterproof

I have steered clear to ebay for a long time so not sure how things work now.
I bought a jacket which arrived today, described as waterproof and also used a description from the website that makes this unique design stating that it is waterproof.
However I already have a jacket from the same manufacturer and this is one I've just bought is completely different. It's a much softer fabric, and more like a kagoul rather than a 100% waterproof jacket that it is described as.
I suspect this is maybe a Mark I or Mark II version and it is completely useless for my needs. It doesn't have a lining and the design is completely different to the jacket the company make now.
So how do I proceed? I don't want it, as it certainly won't stand up to what I bought it for. (The other coat I can wear out in a storm and won't get wet, this I could shoot peas through).
The description is not correct, and even at half the price I wouldn't want it.
If it had been described correctly I would not have bid for it.
Any ideas? The seller says no returns on the listing

Even if the seller says 'no returns', you can still report it as SNAD if all you've said above is correct (particularly using manufacturers description for a different model).0

I assume you bought this from a private seller if they are able to say no returns- personally I would always tend to buy these sort of goods from businesses where you can easily return if you decide against something.
However, you can try a SNAD claim but you will need something to make that claim, not just 'it doesn't feel like my current jacket'. If it has been misdescribed then open a case, explain where the auction was wrong and ebay will almost certainly decide in your favour.
However, before you do that always contact the seller first to see if they will allow a return.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Is it waterproof or not? However I already have a jacket from the same manufacturer and this is one I've just bought is completely different. It's a much softer fabric, and more like a kagoul rather than a 100% waterproof jacket that it is described as.
That is irrelevant to your current purchase.I suspect this is maybe a Mark I or Mark II version and it is completely useless for my needs.
Suspect? Is it or isn't it? Was it described as either of these. If not it is irrelevant. It doesn't have a lining
Did the description say it had a lining?and the design is completely different to the jacket the company make now.
That is irrelevant.
The description is not correct, .
What part isn't correct.0 -
It's not waterproof. The description does not match the item as it refers to the new make/design/fabric material.
I have emailed the seller, but no reply yet.
However as I'm usually out during the day I did ask them to post to a different address rather than the registered ebay address and was sent via Hermes.
Do I go down the SNAD or INR route?Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

I don't understand why you are prepared to scam a seller over this- frankly it will make people less sympathetic to your plight once someone declares themselves as dodgy.
Also- just as an aside to warn other sellers the above is why a seller should not be considering sending tracked goods to anything other than the paypal address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Quite simply I only want the money I paid back. And I shouldn't have to fork out for postage for it to be returned either, when quite simply it is not as describedLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

So you are prepared to make a fraudulent declaration to get a refund? That does not sit well with the ethos of MSE.
If item description is wrong then you are almost certainly guaranteed to win a SNAD claim in which case seller will have to pay return costs.
However, I would still be contacting the seller first before you do anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Give the seller more than 5 minutes to reply to your message first, then open a SNAD if they don't offer to resolve it.
Not sure why you need to be so dramatic about the whole situation.0 -
Update - reply received last night, four days after my initial email, only after I'd sent another message.
They reply that it was a used item and then in capitals NO RETURNS. That's all, nothing else, seems a bit aggressive.
Do I open a SNAD through paypal? It cost £65, I don't want the item, and want a full refund plus postage and having done a quick search I've read examples of buyers losing out. How is best to proceed?Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
