That will be one hell of a family tree! :rotfl:
Shame there won't be any Neanderthals in it, though!
(I'm not being insulting; apparently, it is thought that the Neanderthals did breed with Homo sapiens to some extent!)
:think:
(That explains a lot about certain individuals over history! :rotfl:)(I just lurve spiders!)

That's fascinating, SDW! I am using Ancestry.com to trace my family tree. On that note a distant cousin from my mother's side got in touch with me this morning and would like to compare notes on our tree and discuss our life stories. We are 3rd cousins twice removed so quite far apart. I am not sure how I feel about this, my gut reaction to anyone being related to me from that side of the family is to run for the hills because my experiences there have all been bad previously. However, it is just as possible that this person had a totally ordinary upbringing and doesn't have a clue what went on elsewhere. This of course leads to the question of how much do I tell him about mine...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

You could test the water by asking him if he has found any skeletons in the cupboard, and see what he says. If he's a bit cagey, it's likely he knows some things.(I just lurve spiders!)

Ooh, good idea Pyxis! My teacher friend suggested I be totally upfront and honest but I think the poor man might run for the hills if I do that. I would! :eek::rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Yes, you could test the water first.
And let him get to know you.
After all, he's never met you, and to introduce yourself in one breath and then let out all the skeletons in the other breath might do for him! :rotfl:
Plus, you could gradually suss out what he and his family are like. He might not have inherited anything untoward, or he might have. You can gradually work out how much to tell him and when.
I would play up all your strengths, like your Psych qualies and experience etc. and play down the illnesses at first, not to lie, but just not reveal all at once, and when he knows you better, then you can drip-feed bits of info, and test his reactions at each stage.(I just lurve spiders!)

WaS,
I think if he hasn't suffered it would help you to know (nurture) , and if he has (nature) it would help you to know too. Take things`slowly.
Ta dah...I have passed another grading exam - my new belt is dedicated to every single one of you reading this as it means you haven't given up!
In terms of exams, I am now halfway to black belt. (Time-wise it is a bit longer as the gradings become more spaced apart as skills need to be refined).
elsien, ER is still in hospital. Her move to a nearby home is being held up by annual leave of the different members of the various teams and also some new bandings or something on the funding or something. I don't know too much. PENGUIN I haven't seen her for a while (for which I feel very guilty) - it's partly because DH hates the place and it is a battle to convince him that we should go. After we came out last time, he said, "If I am ever like that, take me to the forest and leave me" (there is some forest in Asia where people went). DH is a compassionate person and I find his attitude bewildering. NB He doesn't mean euthanise other people, just that he would not want to remain alive himself in that condition.
The care that ER is being given is great. She always looks fresh and eats well and is obviously regarded with affection by the staff. But it will be a relief to have her nearer so we can go frequently and make her a better part of everyday life again.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Ode to Autumn - Keats
SEASON of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees, 5
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease; 10
For Summer has o'erbrimm'd their clammy cells.
Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind; 15
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twinèd flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook; 20
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings, hours by hours.
Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barrèd clouds bloom the soft-dying day 25
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river-sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn; 30
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.
I posted this on another thread, but thought you might like it too!
It could be the first time I've read it all the way through since we did it for English 'O' level, and suddenly I was 15 again!
Aaaargh! The angst!
(Things don't change much, do they? Hahahahahahahahahah!)
Anyway, it dawned on me this morning when I got up to make my tea and toast that Autumn's here, 'cos there was condensation on the windows......the first since Spring!
Now, towards the end of Spring I was getting much worse condensation that usual, due to that torrential rain we kept having, so I went and bought one of those window vacs, but as soon as I'd got it, the condensation stopped! So I've never used it!
I can finally get to test it!(I just lurve spiders!)

By the way, I've 'seen' MessedUp!
She's started a thread about suicide awareness, so don't go to it if it'd be a trigger for you.

A rather nice present for the person who has everything, including a garden.
(Not all slugs munch your blooms and veg, so it's worth knowing which is which. The big black ones which are so common, actually mainly stick to rotting vegetation).
The Little Book of Slugs

Know your enemy; even the slug has its Achilles Heel.
Tired of fighting? Grow plants that slugs won’t eat.
Over 70 ways to combat slugs without using chemical pellets."(I just lurve spiders!)
