I want to go home and watch Star Wars now ono.... although to be honest I could do without the cold! Still, better now than actually on your hols I guess.

Whispers, as this is scary... I may be taking a music exam later this year (my first for well over 20 years). I can just about handle the actual pieces, but am struggling to get my head around all the other parts I need to understand and be able to talk about.... I'm sure it's a LOT more difficult than I remember. Of course, this could just be another sign of old age setting in! JM, please send happy music theory vibes :D

Forgot to say earlier, I'm really glad your friend got in touch again WaS. Hope you're feeling ok about it all x.

    Melly, how's the tummy now?

    Penguin reply to code

I take far too much codeine, and am always constipated. Apart from the once a month or so when things turn dramatically the other way for 24 hours or so. Then back to constipated again. So no help (as ever lol!), but I do, quite literally, feel your pain.
    End penguin.

Luckily I keep a supply of immodium in my bag so waiting for it to kick in. Curse you codeine and tramadol.

Just noticed your other post. Yay for being good enough to take an exam.

I may not get to the exam point yet! :rotfl:I like the idea of challenging myself and doing something scary and all that.... but this might be a bit too scary :p.

I'm always really nervous about taking anything to solve the problem as I can't take the pain!

    Will penguin this next bit...
My unscientific online research seems to suggest that suppositories are gentler on the system, so think I'll try that next time. After months of cyclogest I'm well past any ick factor in that regard :rotfl:.
    End penguin.

Wonderful news about your friend, WaS!:j:j

My husband is having another bout of not being able to cope with politics, so he is not watching the news and avoiding facebook. He just gets so irrationally angry, he says it's a side of himself he doesn't like and doesn't want to feed it (which I agree with).

He's never really happy talking about Mental health problems either, although we have discussed his own and he has seen a counsellor in the past. Things like dementia really frighten him.

So......I've told him about the 'penguins' on here! And if I want to tell him somehting that might upset him, I'm going to say 'penguin about.....' and he will either say yes or no. :)

Thanks forum for a good idea!!

A far, far TMI reply to Code - I can sympathise so much with that. Since I had my gallbladder out I suffer really badly with upset stomachs which last forever (well, about 4 weeks because they're generally from period to period) and seem to be pretty much immune to immodium. I think the thing I hate most about having an upset stomach at work is that I sometimes don't get all that much warning so will be in the middle of making a dash to the basement (hardly anyone ever uses those toilets so there's far less chance of subjecting colleagues to nasty smells/sounds) when someone stops me to ask a question. I know that I end up seeming really rude when I give a very curt answer and dash off but I figure that's better than what would happen if I stayed there to chat!! End penguin

Tea - I don't like to as a rule as I think that if something is trying to evacuate quickly, there's probably a good reason for it. But I'm at work and it takes me an hour to get home so, I need to not be on the loo for that time.

Yay for at home penguins 7dw.

Izzy - that's what I'm like today. Then had a toilet standoff with someone when I was deciding if I was done for the moment.

What do you play? (apologies if you've mentioned it beore and I've forgotten).

I did clarinet for a couple of years at primary school, but when I got to secondary the homework load was so much that something had to give, so it was clarinet and scouts that fell by the wayside.

Flute. Was very similar - started at primary school, continued for a while at secondary school but once the real work kicked in I took a break. At the time I thought it would be a few months - only been about 20 years :rotfl:.

Code - tbh hadn't even twigged that you were talking about Imodium, useful stuff! I was thinking more about getting things going in the first place :rotfl:
