Default From Santander (Store cards)

Dear all, I have a default for a store card through H samuel. I have been trying to contact both H samuel and Santander who inform the aco!!!! would of gone to a company called new day Ltd, I phone and emailed them trying to challenge the default to be told it's definitely Santander that has placed the default on me. I phone santander backup only to be told they have no record of my store card accounts on their systems new day advised that anything older than last year would not of been migrated to them.
I have gone round all of the relevant people advise me they have no record of my account. my next question here is that if they people who have placed the default don't have my information then surely the information in my credit report should be removed.
Can I ask do I have a valid point here?
As I am not getting anywhere with these people via phone and email. I have challenged the details with experian but I am concerned I have no where to go and complain about it as apparently none of them have my details
any advise would be helpful

Your account would have been migrated to NewDay but it sounds as if it has been archived/purged.
When was it placed on your account and do you believe you defaulted on the account?0 -
Experian states Oct 2011. Ive tried calling and speaking with Santander they state they have no record of my accounts the same as new day and h Samuel.0

You failed to answer the second part of zx81's question.
Are you certain and do you have evidence, that prior to the default entry, your store account was fully paid with no monies outstanding?0 -

there was a default due to missed payments. I acknowledge that due to financial issues, but the question here as keepers and holders of my credit information Santander have a duty to maintain my credit records. if they have placed a default on me but no longer have any account details about me then surely they have failed to retain and act reasonably. I am going to challenge them with a sar.
I would assume if you close an account then the account records have to be kept for a period of years. account opened in 2007 and defaulted in 2011.0 -
What name does the account appear under on the credit reports?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Santander ( Store Cards) - Phoned Santander to be told New day now manage all store cards. Phoned new Day to be told that the account has not been migrated over to their systems I was then told to speak to H samuel how in turn said it's Santander rinse wash repeat.. so I decided to call experian and challenge this information as to me if they have no information about me and my accounts then the default shouldn't stay0

If Santander have it under their name, then they are still responsible under the Data Protection Act for the data on your credit file, no matter how much they may try to pretend otherwise.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Ok if you was me, what would you do. do you think I have done the right thing by challenging it with experian?
I just can't through to any relevant team at santander.0 -
Is the default date of 2011 accurate? Was the default justified on the payment history of the account?
If they were, then I suspect you are flogging a dead horse, but you never know until you follow though on a complaint. Odd things happen.
ceo@santander.co.uk used to work well to complain to, telling them you will be taking the to the FOS if you don't get your complaint properly dealt with.
Not sure if it still is active or responded to though.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
