IDEM being awkward!

Hi everyone,
In a nutshell: I'm on a debt management plan which has resulted in 5 defaults (will drop off in 3 years) and an old MBNA debt that has gone to IDEM, they haven't/won't default me instead I have a DM marker on my credit file from them which, as i'm just finding out, is a royal pain as it's going to be on for another 15/16 years at this rate as it'll be on until 6 years after the account is settled. Bearing in mind we are trying to save a deposit and hope to buy a house in the next 4/5 years or so.
I've spoken with IDEM, they won't change the DM marker. I've offered a partial settlement which they have blankly declined.
So I'm now thinking, would I be better off removing them from the DMP so they default me and restart an arrangement with them directly once they've put a default on? At least that way it'll be gone in 6 years!
Thanks in advance
Debbie

Carefully read ---> Principles for the Reporting of Arrears, Arrangements and Defaults at Credit Reference Agencies
If you think after that IDEM are acting clearly in an unfair manor and it should be a default, then complain warning them that you will go to the FOS and ICO if not changed.
If you are not sure, and/or it looks a debatable case on the guidelines in that link, then you may be better doing as you say.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I'll have a read through of that info, thank you0

OK, after having a read through I think they are being unfair so I've drafted a formal complaint to them although I'm not holding out too much hope as looking online, I haven't read many success stories at getting IDEM to update credit files. I'll get a form ready for the ICO and FOS! lol0

What sort of arrangements did you have with mbna before it was transferred to ideam, my was to pay 93 pounds a month for 140 months ,complained to fos even went to local soldiers,no success but the ico said it was a formal agreement and should be judged on the new amounts and if they were made on time and as laid end down by the agreement it should show up to date ,downside took four years to sought out good luck mine is mbna thread0

I've sent a formal complaint a few days ago but I'm not holding my breath! I think I may end up going down the route of stopping payments to them to get a default. Annoying as I've always agreed payments with them and I'm worse off for it now?!
I originally negotiated with them directly back in 2007 and agreed to £69 a month until it was fully repaid, at that point they were reporting an AP maker. Then in 2013 we entered into a DMP and they now get about £20 a month I think and the marker has changed to DM. So by ISO guidelines I should've been defaulted in 2007 and it would be long gone from my credit file :0( I wish I'd known when we entered the DMP how the DM marker would affect us.0 -
MBNA would not have sent the debt to an outside agency, or sold it on, without defaulting it. may I suggest you contact not IDEm but MBNA and ask for a copy of the default notice? That will have the date on it.0

* accounts can be legally assigned without a default under the consumer credit act being issued.
* a default on credit file does not always have to be added when a CCA default letter is sent or not remedied
mostly the thing above do happen but not always.
mbna has been selling on a fair few dmp accounts that hadnt yet reached the CRA default stage so not that unusual lately.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

Mbna sold a great chunk of there accounts on dmp , one of my two was sold to them why fos where investigating it , I told idem this it was transferred back to mbna who then sold it to arrow Gobel but when I told fos they made them bring it back to mbna , fos upheld the interest rate was unfairand had to be returned to the 14.9 percent like they were with with the bank of Scotland , I had made the payments per agreement as arrangement but they could use the number 6 monthly staus and and headline arrangement to repay even when one was settled and the other nearly paid ,both paid now0 -
Well I've put in complaints with the ICO and FSO, waiting to hear back from them but I'm expecting it'll take a while, although I'm wondering if IDEM have been made aware as I've had a letter this morning asking for more information about the settlement offer that I made a couple of months ago, which they flatly refused at the time.0
