I'm not aware of any travel insurer that will cover overseas employment.0

You say he is a student so is this part of Erasmus or tied in with his education? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Tied in with his education; he has a year's work experience, he has spent 6 months in House of Commons and is now spending 6 months with the EU.0

Was any insurance cover arranged for his stay in London?he has spent 6 months in House of Commons and is now spending 6 months with the EU.
I ask out of curiosity about any perceived difference between a six month stay, for the same purpose and activities, in London and in Brussels.Evolution, not revolution0 -
No, there was no insurance cover arranged, I'm just being cautious as he will be abroad.0

The main difference is in London they are entitled to free healthcare and ambulance services. In Brussels they are not entitled to free healthcare or ambulance services, and I don't know if being transferred from a London hospital to Wales is free or not, but it's certainly significantly less than from Belgium.0 -

It will likely be standard on a backpacker policy. The very first "normal" policy I checked (Flexicover) also specifically states that it covers "students working as counsellors or university exchanges for practical course work (not manual work)" among other things like bar work (which leads me to believe it would be suitable for this, though obviously that should be checked with the insurer first).
I don't think it will be remotely difficult to find an insurer that would cover it.0
