I thought I'd start a thread, for those things you notice, that make you wonder, "what's the point of that?"

    I'll start with something I noticed in a £shop.

A twin pack of travel adapters, containing one EU adapter, and one US adapter

What's the point of you should be thread?

That doesn't even make grammatical sense.

People starting threads with examples where there is nothing wrong.

    I'll add:
people starting a thread on the 'Praise, Vent & Warnings' board that is none of the above.....

I saw one the other day. A Nespresso machine you can operate with your phone by bluetooth. What's the point in that when you still have to go to the machine to put the pod in?

  • It's venting because, I think it's stupid to sell a pair of electrical adapters, for use thousands of miles apart.

I take it you don't subscribe to the travelling light philosophy? ;)

If I don't actually have to carry everything, all the way (eg. as if I were camping), then no, I take what I feel is worth taking.

It's surprising how much fits within a 20kg limit.

And it's been explained to you that many people travel to both the USA and Europe. The two things do not have to be used at the same time.

Although how you couldn't work that out for yourself ...

I'd struggle with just one adapter, and I'd imagine a lot of people would.

I take just one and a British extension lead,

Not only do people travel to more than one destination, some people also travel to more than one destination as part of the same trip, business travellers in particular. I met up recently with a friend of mine who was attending business meetings in London, then New York, before she returned home to Rome. She would have needed UK and US adaptors as she wasn't going back to Italy between the two destinations.
Next time I go to the USA I am planning to have a stopover in Iceland.
All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)
  • They're selling a pack with two types in it, the ones I've got had both types in it anyway and were called a universal adapter.
