Bought a Car off a Perv!

Options
I bought a car via eBay, not too far from where I live, and I'm chuffed to bits with it - paid a cheque deposit followed by cash balance, got the V5/car, and we left one another positive feedback.

But now he keeps texting me, inviting me over to his house etc! (By the way, I've met his wife - it was her car  )

He's only got my mobile number because I had to call him for directions, but I never disclosed my email address and my eBay postal address was out of date, so he hasn't got that either.

Anyone else had this problem? How do you block them???

Chat to your mobile phone people?

And watch out - ebay will throw the book at you if someone reports those old address details.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Text back the once that you are not interested and please refrain from contacting you again.

It is possible that he picked up the wrong signals from you (well, most pervs do that!!) and he just needs a brush off.

However, you should only have to brush him off once. The second time is a threat to notify the police, the third time is a call to the police.

At least he doesn't have any other detials for you - only a mobile and you could change that if things get worse. Although thats unlikely - he is possibly one of those guys who tries it one with everyone (my brother was like that) as the law of averages will give him a return!

I still own the old house and recieve post there, I just don't live there any more!

I guess I'll have to phone Orange - I'm soooo tired of 'on hold' music... (been listening to it all day).

My sister bought a house from a builder/developer - he kept texting her and when he had to come back to house to finish off some work that was incomplete he made comments about her underwear. He too was married! My sister made it clear she was NOT interested and could he please stop texting her. He got the message. You sometimes have to stand up to people especially if it is making you uncomfortable - don't feel bad about it it any way.

    Good luck.

Just get back to him and tell him that, although you're sure that he is acting with the best of intentions your boyfriend, who is a policemen, is furious about it. ;)
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.

i sometimes have a boyfriend 'in the army'.... occasionally, if required, he also has 'anger management issues' lol

  • Orange will advise the following:
    ignore the texts
report to police if you feel is necessary
free of charge number change for malicious/nuisance calls
use handset functions to block text (if ur handset has 'block text' function)

there's nothing else they can do for you if you know the number/who it is. They do not offer a network-based sms blocking facility for individual numbers

    why do we do it,

spending money we dont have on things we dont need

Tee-hee... unfortunately, since I've only newly moved here, the only friend that can help me is a 6'1" girl. We have to go back and scrap the old car (which is off-road opposite his house), and we thought that if he saw us we could just pretend to be gay... but someone else pointed out that could have the opposite effect!

I'm not sure if my phone has a "block text" function or not... I've found something that says "only accept messages from..." but it would take a good while to add everyone I know except him!

I couldn't change my number - it's an exceptionally cool one that I've had for 5 years now...

Thanks for all your help, I'm not really that scared of him but more curious about whether this is a risk issue with eBay! Might sort myself out with an 0845 number / PO Box for the future...
