I dont think a 6'1" lady will do it, I do think the male approach will work just fine, I'm sure there will be a 1001 money savers who will offer to escort you in exchange for a brew and a few custard creams.

I know it's a bit over the top, but perhaps try to use an old PAYG Mobile when contacting ebay'ers? This is even more important for women who can't "produce" a male for backup!

If you need a mobile, then I could always meet you down the pub!!

Seriously though, it is a shame when this kind of thing happens, as you don't want to change your mobile number every five minutes.
