Good morning all and happy Friday,
Weather's poor this morning plus I was stuck in traffic, so not a good start.
Yesterday was relatively chilled until I had to pick up TGFW from an event in Edinburgh at 10, so a 'late' night for me.
Tomorrow morning at 5am I fly to Malaga, so tonight will be spent packing and going to bed early(ish). Need to check I've got all the small toiletries too.
So this will be last post until I'm back. I hope to come back fully rested after a week of reading, eating, drinking and sleeping - all with a little bit of sun.0 -
I hope you're having an amazing holiday Speky. Not giving up

Good morning everyone,
Back to the grind now after a lovely holiday to south Spain for a week. Time was spent with family and family friends and it was great to enjoy 30 degree heat for the last time this year.
It gave me a lot of time to reflect and also plan forward. With my batteries now fully charged I’m filled with an enthusiasm to give everything 100%. Wither it be work, fitness, eating right, TGFW, family, you name it. I’m sure the monotony of normal life will slowly kill that eagerness but for now, I’ll revel in it.
I’ve to drive down on Friday for my face-to-face interview in Manchester which I’m looking forward to. I’m not nervous or anything yet and in-fact, I don’t think I will even closer to the time. I’ve nothing to lose. In the meantime, it’s a bank holiday up here and so my boss if off but I suspect/hope that tomorrow, I’ll have a meeting with my current employers surrounding a promotion. Time will tell.
So now I’ve got a pile of work to catch up on.0 -
Good morning all,
Actually a nice morning in Glasgow, with wispy type clouds in the blue sky.
Drove to the gym this morning in pitch black which was a sharp reminder that summer is over and winter is around the corner. This subsequently makes me panic about Christmas, but I've got some time to remedy that.
Yesterday I played football twice after work which sure took it out of me and then opted for an early night. Keen to get back into my routine again. Tonight, I have TGFW coming over so I need to nip to the SM and get some food in for the week ahead.
This morning I got YNAB all up to date and I'm scrapping by for now. I hope there's a conversation in work around the corner about offering me a pay rise. Or, I might be lucky in the new job offer and reap the rewards there. Time will tell.0 -
Glad you had a good holiday and that the rewards of feeling rested and enthusiastic are staying with you. Fingers crossed for your job prospects whether at the current place or the potential new job. Thanks Joey
I've never been to Manchester aside from the football but I hear good things.
Still very dark outside and a bit drizzly. Sign of things to come perhaps.
Yesterday I had TGFW coming over. I nipped to Asda at lunch and bought some salmon and vegetables (as per her suggestion) however I don't think she was actually expecting me to make it and was perhaps a bit disappointed at it's simplicity and healthiness. As you all know, I enjoy going to the gym and eating right, which is easy when you're on your own so I think we need to find middle ground.
I gave her my spare keys to lock up this morning as I left the house at 6am for the gym. What I do tonight is dependant on the weather as I'd like to get some work done in my mums garden if possible.
I also had a meeting in work yesterday about my potential promotion all that comes with that (new title, higher salary and bonus) and unfortunately, during the time I was off, my superiors failed to have a meeting and discuss - so no further forward. I have however (again) been promised this will happen on Thursday. I won't hold my breath.0 -
Good morning everyone,
The sun is just managing to break through the dark clouds. Imminent rain I suspect.
Yesterday's football after work was cancelled which allowed me to do some odds jobs, including visiting my mum for a bit. Then opted for an early night and was probably sleeping for 10pm.
Today I've a busy day at work which includes "The Meeting" which will determine my potential promotion. TGFW has a hospital appointment and I'm picking up her up afterwards so I'll stay late in work.
Tomorrow is the interview for the job in Manchester. It's at 1pm, so I think I'll leave at 9am to give me plenty of time. I'll spend time today to prepare for it all.
I was paid yesterday so I'm just about to update YNAB, which I don't think will be a pleasant experience unfortunately. I owe TGFW £60 from London and my journey to Manchester will take a full tank of petrol which is another £60. Another month of trying to spend very little.0 -
Good Luck with your meeting and with your interview
Hopefully you will be in a position to play them off against each other0 -
