Morning all,
I had a fairly quiet weekend.
A super frustrating thing for me is how long it takes for my bank to record any payments. I used to use Bank of Scotland and they were terrific. As soon as I bought something in a shop, 30 mins later it'd be on my online statement. With First Direct, it's about 3 or 4 working days. Meaning I buy something on Friday and it doesn't show till Tuesday! Makes using YNAB a little bit more frustrating. An option is to use cash but it's not as easy to track. Anyway.
I've a quiet week ahead although there's talk of going out with the boys on Saturday which I haven't done in months given where my moneys been going. Apart from that, not much else planned.
Should be kept busy in work. Things have been going well sales wise and so I'll nudge again for my bonus on Friday at my weekly catchup with my boss.
Have a lovely week all.0 -
Speky I totally get where your coming from with FD. Sometimes it comes out within two days other times its much longer.. I can check my bank in the morning and they haven't gone out but if I check it in the afternoon payments have gone out. How crazy.
I think after everything you've achieved you deserve a night out with the boys.Chandelier.

I too are with FD and find the exact same problem. I've decided to change how I bank a bit from the end of the month. I've opened a current account with Santander (who I used to bank with) and am going to transfer a set amount each month and then use that account for my everyday spending.
The FD can just tick over with salary, DD and SO coming out.
I shall see how it works.
How are you finding your new flat? Is your budget working out so far?0 -
That's a good idea Louby but I like just having the 1 account that all my DD's come from.
I think I'll suck it up in the meantime.
Loving the flat. Love the independence. I'm incredibly house proud and so the place is pretty clean (considering I'm a man in his 20's). I know some of my neighbours in the same block and my direct neighbours are quiet and keep themselves to themselves. Absolutely ideal.
Also, yesterday I came home to see that the communal hall had been repainted so it looks wonderful.
On a financial front, after 2 months of arguing, I eventually got money back from my solicitors for the poor service I got. They gave me £95. It's better than nothing I suppose. I also got my £500 cash back from my lender so I've the joy of now playing with YNAB and allocating my new funds which I think is only fair I spend back into the house.
Happy hump day everyone.0 -
Good news about getting some money back!
And it sounds as if buying that flat was the best decision you made. I can't wait until I save enough money to move out and buy a placeChandelier.

It for sure was. Furthermore, I'm glad I've experienced living on my own too. I've always had the bug to move out from the parents and with my previous girlfriends we've always planned on doing so together and part of me wanted to experience living on my own. So I'm glad I've had the chance. Now need to find the future Mrs SpekySquarehead.0 -
Haha that made me LOL Speky. The future MrsSpekySquarehead.
Did nothing ever happen with that girl who was going to Europe or somewhere? The one you had a date with.Chandelier.

Well remembered. She'll still over in Spain and due back in September. I don't use Facebook much but my friend told me she seemed quite close with a guy over there, so I'm pushing it to the back of my mind. As long as she's happy I suppose.
'The One' is out there somewhere. I'll bide my time. I'm prepared to wait. But in the meantime, I'll be sure to make the most of and enjoy my independence.0
